These cars have an Amplifier to run the speakers. The amp is normally in the truck between the rear 6x9 speakers. The amp is probably fried. You can buy bypass wire harnesses on Ebay that will bypass the failing amp, or simply get a new one.
Most likely the amp. Manufacturers just don't seem to put these in spots that are dry. Behind the kick panel on the passenger side, this is where most water comes in. Under the seat, because water sits in/on the floor board it causes very high humidity. the other is in the truck, which also leaks and stores high humidity. And of course, they don't make them weather/water proof because the amp is inside the car. Thing is, you can't bypass the amp. The radio needs it to run the speakers. No amp, No sound. Your three options are, 1 replace the amp to get the door speakers. 2 repair the amp. 3 replace the radio and still have to bypass the amp. The speaker wires run from the radio to the amp from the amp to the speakers. So you will have to splice in a new radio, and splice the speakers wires at the amp. Hope this helps.
there is an amplifier in the trunk of your car mounted between rear speakers. you can either replace from dealer which can cost up to $1200 or try to locate used oned one. , metra electronics makes a plug to bypass amp. part # 70-2021 available at a car audio shop, this will allow the amp to be bypassed and stereo speakers will work just as good
To start try disconnecting battery cable for a couple of minutes and see if it can fix the problem.
If this does not fix the problem, then proceed and test the radio connector at the back, checking wiring to speakers. If there is a factory Amp installed, check amp wiring and re-wire bypassing the Amp to test.
If a stereo unit is correctly wired , there is no external amp, and radio is working but with no sound, that means that you have blown the stereo built in amp final.
Sounds like your amp is bad. If I where you, I would just bypass the amp. If you got dvd player, your screen is an amp in itself. Just find 8 wires that are about foot long and bypass that thing.
not too sure what you are trying to do but just buy a aftermarket deck..for example for 100 bucks jvc has a nice deck with remote that plays mp3 and even has a jack right on the faceplate for a mp3 player.then throw your subs in the trunk hook up the amp and bingo banging beat.if u have the aruroa with the battery under the back seat its even easier
I had the same problem, I replaced the amp under the passenger seat and it didnt help. What I did was bypassed the amp by cutting the speaker wires on the back of the radio and ran new wires to my speakers. I works great now.
I disconnected the amp and ran jumper wires for the proper speakers (two wires per speaker eight total) . Basically I bypassed the amp now all speakers work and sound fine.
