Someone (hopefully you) set the 3 or 4 digit security code on the radio. when power is disconnected, like if someone steals your radio, the radio locks and cannot be used. the code can be from 000 to 1999. the hour and minute buttons are used to enter the numbers. 2000 choices - good luck
to unlock the system:
1 turn on ignition - LOC will appear
2 press MN and '000' will appear
3 press MN again until you see the last 2 digits of the code you want to try
4 press HR until you see the first 1 or 2 digit of the code you want to try
5 press AM FM
6 SEC will appear if you got it right - LOC will show if you got it wrong
good luck

Replaced the radio in my 2001 Pontiac Sunfire with a radio from a scrapped 2001 Grand Am. Radio says "locked". How do I get it to work?.

Because you have removed the radio from a power source it automatically goes into stolen mode making the radio useless when stolen. This mode is selected when you change the battery but in that case you would have access to the code to re-enter it. Talk with a radio tech and they may be able to say how to fix or where to go to get the code.

I had a starter relay problem on my 2001 Eclipse. Now my factory radio wont work. It asked for a code and I typed in a few random #'s and now it says OFF and wont work now. Do you know how I can fix this?

That's a bummer. The factory radio has a anti-thief device that keeps the radio from working if the wrong code is put in too many times. When this happens, the radio is on lock-down. No more codes can be entered.

Only the dealer right now can only unlock the radio for you. They can get the correct code by the serial number on the radio. But, you still need them to remove the lock-down in place.

Your local dealer has a way of retrieving the number. They will need the VIN. and the numbers on the back of the radio.

2001 Buick radio Locked after battery change

Most likely there is an anti-theft code for the radio and you must enter that code to enable the radio. This will happen when the is battery is disconnected. If you do not know the code or the procedure for entering it consult your manual. If you do not have the manual or code you will need to have the dealer reset it for you.

Radio Code

I believe you have another problem, because the radio will keep the calibration of the radio as long as it stays in your van. it will only lock if radio is swaped with another pontiac radio. to unlock it you will need a GM tech II to recalibrate the unit.

Rado locks up

try unhooking the cars battery for fifteen minutes then hooking it back up. they probably did this at the shop when they were finished to clear the engine trouble codes. my car radio recently acted up all i had to do was unhook the battery then it worked like new.
