Question about 1987 Chevrolet Camaro

1 Answer

I have 16" rims with 245 50 r16 tires. I'm thinking about going to 17 or 18 inch rims. What size tires do I need to get to keep the same outside diameter tire.

The only way to maintain the same outside diameter is to go to a low profile tire. The tire shops can give you the best options when changing tire sizes, they do it all day long and know exactly what tires match up to what rims. Take your rig into a major tire center and speak with one of the shop guys and they can show you what works for your truck. You will have clearance issues to consider too...

I have a 2001 pt cruiser needs rims and tires size on it now are235/45/R17 size on chart inside driver door is 195/65/R15 or 205/55/R16 not sure which size to buy please help thankyou

The number after the r is the rim size. According to your post you have 17 inch rims. Stock rims were 15 inches or optional 16 inches. Unless you are putting a different size rim on then you need a17 inch tie to fit your current rim

Will a 225/70 r16 fit a 2007chevy impala

As long as the Impala has 16" wheels on it. The tires will be a little big but should work if replaced as a set of 4.

Will 16 inch tires fit on a 97 ford windstar

If the stud pattern and off set is the same they will fit on. The problem is that regulation requires the ride height to be maintained which means that you will have to fit a lower profile tyre . For example if you use 15 " 205/95-r15 tyres then you may have to go to 205/65 r16 tyres . Talk with a tyre shop and discuss the legal requirements as far as insurance goes with a wheel size change

Tire and Rim Problem

It appears that you have the wrong size wheels on the rear (17). Standard tire size on that vehicle is 265/75/16. You all so have a full size spare. Keep in mind that if this is a 4 wheel drive vehicle, damage to the drivetrain can result if you continue to drive with diffrent size tires.

Winter Tires

BFGoodrich makes a REALLY nice tire for the beetle that fits on the stock alloy rims. If you have the 16 inch rims you'll probably need to be running 205/55/r16's. I can't remember the exact name, but they make some decent winter treads. Either way, the beetle isn't the greatest in the snow so I fixed my problem in a different manner.

I got 4 rims off a beetle from the junk yard and put 215/55/r16's on them. They are a winter tread from Hercules Tire. They really helped my 01 beetle in the snow. It may have been expensive, but they keep wear and tear of winter driving off of my clutch. Also, it saves some of the tread on my Yokohama tires :)
