Question about 1997 Ford F150 Regular Cab

1997 Ford 150 will turn over but won't start. Have checked fuses, sparkplugs, replaced starter. Recently replaced catalytic convertor. What's your guess?

Fuel pump, also check the inertia switch on the passengers side kick panel,reset if the red button is up.

the light won`t go out as the catalytic function is monitored by sensors and if the monitors don`t see efficiency within set range the light will go on. if you remove the bulb you won`t know if any other codes are being set and the light test when you turn on the key is part of the e-test it will fail and you will have to fix it anyways.

You probably caused a surge in the wiring at some time in the starter replacement process. Check all the fuses in the fuse box under the dashboard.

have someone turn the key.... smack the starter with a hammer... if it suddenly turns over and starts... replace the starter

Running rough


I would check sparkplugs, plug wires, vacuum hoses to map sensor, check to see if exhaust is strong out pipe, may be a catalytic convertor stopped up , bad O2 sensor will cause starting and idling problems.
