Question about Jeep Liberty

1 Answer

2002 Jeep Liberty service engine light stays on; and abs and brake lights stay on. Replaced cracked hose to fuel tank vent underneath in the back between tank and differential. Still stays on code says something about loose gas cap; replaced cap and still stays on. ABS lights came on shortly after removing boat from water and the speedometer does not work either. Perhaps rear sensor is shot? How are they removed? Is there a screw; or do they just thread into the to of pumpkin?

So I have a 2002 jeep liberty it bogs at 2500 rpms when gas tank is full and when its empty it drives good what is the issue? I can't figure this out.

Did you try loosening the gas cap? If it behaves differently, never mind the engine light for the moment, but does the performance improve any? If so, replace the gas cap or make certain it is tight after fueling. Let us know if this helps or fixes the issue.

Brake light and atl light stays on

Whenever this warning light or any other stays on in the dash it is indicating that the systems control module (or the system sensor in the case of lights like low oil pressure, door open indicators etc.) has detected a fault, it then disables the system (this applies to ABS,TCS, TCM, SRS, TPMS and BCM faults and others) as long as the light is on. You must now have the dealer hook up a special electronic diagnostic tool and "scan" the system for the fault code that is stored for the problem(s)

Legend of Abbreviations. ABS Anti-lock brake system. TCS Traction control system, TCM Transmission control module, SRS Supplemental restraint system, BCM Body control module. TPMS Tire Pressure Monitor System

Engine light stays on code # P0456

P0456 is Evaporative Emissions System - Small leak detected.

More often than not it is a gas cap that is either not put on corrert or it has failed to hold the seal.
Less likely causes are:
  • A small leak in any of the EVAP hoses or fuel tank hoses
  • A small leak in the purge valve or vent valve
  • The EVAP Canister may be leaking

Dashboard lights on 2002 Jeep Liberty Sport

You can go to Auto Zone . They can scan the car for codes for free, and check the Alternator. I think with all the issue with the dash lights coming on, The codes should get a tech in the right direction. You could be right and the Alternator is the root cause of failure.

Good Luck

2002 GJCL, ABS light came on today and stays on. Alsp smell gas.

If the ABS lights stays on it means the computer has detected a problem in the anti lock brake system and has shut it off until it is repaired. You still have your regular brakes, just not the ABS parts. Could the smell be exhaust gas?
