P0316 is jsut a misfire code in addition to another code that will help u isolate what cylinder is actually misfiring there has to be another code besides that one

Codes po308/po316

code po308 refers to cylinder 8 misfire detected===causes--engine mechanical fault---wiring---ignition/fuel system---injector--ECT/MAF sensors--ECM
code po316 refers to misfire detected on start up --first 1000rpm.===causes engine mechanical fault--wiring--ignition /l system--injector
For this I would be inclined to run a fuel system cleaner first to see f the injectors come good . Check all the wiring connections are clean and tight.

Code po316 1000

if the air filter has deteriorated then parts of it would be in the intake of the engine and will need to be removed. parts will get stuck every were have been known to block up the intake line into the cylinders.

Audi a4 1.8t random miss fire

Check out the AboutAutomobile.com site for NHTSA complaints. I believe there was a defect in the cylinder heads for this engine. The redesigned heads have a different suffix letter than the stock heads.

For a time, the Manufactuer was paying for the repair.

5.3 liter Chevy engine #1 Cylinder not firing at idle

My opinion...

Year? Miles?

There's no way I'd dive into a "HEAD GASKET"
diagnosis without pressure testing the cooling
system and (wet/dry) COMPRESSION testing
the whole engine...

Even if it is a "HEAD GASKET"... the entire engine
might be ready for a REFRESH... and tossing a new
Head gasket into a TIRED ENGINE not insubstantial
(a lot of wasted time & money)...

Come back with some compression numbers...

but don't bother with any of this if your engine oil has water in it.

(in my opinion)

i HAVE BEEN GETTING THE PO316 CODE FOR THE LAST 3 MONTHS. I HAVE FOUND 7 OTHER LINCOLN AVIATOR OWNERS EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM. BETWEEN THE RANGE OF 40-60 THE TRUCK STUTTERS, STAULS AND RUNS EXTREMELY ROUGH. WE ALL HAVE LAREADY CHANGED THE COILS, COIL PACKS, SPARK PLUGS, FUEL FILTER, THROTTLE SENSOR, CAM SENSOR, CRANK SENSOR AND ARE LEFT WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE ALSO HAD 3 LOCAL MECHANIC SHOPS RUN 1 HOUR DIAGNOSTICS ON THE TRUCK AS WELL AS A PERSONAL MECHANIC AND THE PO316 MISFIRE CODE IS VERY VAGUE. IF ANYONE HAS A RESOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM PLEASE LET ME KNOW.
THANK YOU

E ng lite came on pulled to stop light engine ran rough and was shaking ck oil was low filled oil ran better this am wife went to take truck to work got to the end of block engine ran rough brought back...

I don't think the rough running had much to do with oil level, since it started running rough a 2nd time. Check the fuel filter and ignition timing.

Two dead cylinders no spark on 1 nor 6 cylinders

Based on your readings, the fuel trim of -33 shows that it is running rich on that bank. Disconnect the coil on number one cylinder. With a 12 volt test light connected to ground, probe one of the two wires (engine running). One wire should be hot all the time, then connect the test light to a positive source (battery B+) and probe the other wire. The other sould be flashing on and off while running. The PCM provides ground to the circuit to fire the coils. If you don't have a pulsing light then the PCM circuit is faulty, if no constant power than the coil power source is in question. Don't attempt to fire the coil for testing without a load attached (spark plug) this burns out the driver in the PCM. Check continuity of the driver wire from PCM to the coil, if it is good and the other wire has power then the driver in the PCM is bad and a new PCM is what it will need. I hope this helps.
