Stalls intermittently, wrench icon lights up under tach.

Problem with the electronic throttle control .
It should be noted that the ETC system includes a wrench light on the instrument cluster that illuminates when a fault is detected. Faults are also accompanied by DTCS and the "Check Engine Soon" light. Your best bet is to take your vehicle to a reputable ASE certified repair shop .
Overview The Generation II (Gen II) Torque Based Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) is a hardware and software strategy that delivers a transmission output shaft torque (via throttle angle) based on driver demand (pedal position). It utilizes an electronic throttle body, the PCM and a accelerator pedal assembly to control throttle opening and engine torque. The ETC system basically replaces the standard cable operated accelerator pedal, idle air control (IAC) motor, 3-wire throttle position sensor (TPS) and mechanical throttle body .

How to ajust trottle linkage on transmission

Throttle valve cable adjustment:Place throttle body in idle position. Press cable lock button to release cable. Pull cable conduit toward rear of vehicle until wiper is completely retracted into end of conduit fitting. Release cable lock button. Raise vehicle for access to trans throttle valve lever. Rotate throttle valve lever toward front of vehicle until ratcheting sound (from cable) stops. CAUTION " Do not rotate throttle valve beyond the idle stop. The lever, valve and manual lever shaft will be damaged if rotated too far." Check cable adjustment. Throttle valve lever should begin to move at same time lever on MPI throttle body moves off idle position. 1998 pontiac grand prix se shifts fast and hard, or shifts late. what can cause this

On the trottle body there is the trottle valve cable or TVC. This is what regulates the pressure in the transmission and determines how hard and when to shift. If you adjust this by moving the throttle cable forward towards the headlights it will result in an earlier smoother shift.

Engine gos off when I start A/C on

You probably disconnected the battery recently, or changed the battery. Clean your throttle body, with throttle body cleaner, must be shiny. Do this with the battery disconnected, and all HVAC controls off. When finished connect the battery back up and drive for 5 miles or so, this will reset your computer to read the newly cleaned throttle body correctly now. Problem solved.

Need to know what the throttle body looks like & how to replace it..

The trottle body is located on the intake manifold. There will be a black tube going to it. This tube is the breather tube and on the opposite end is the air filter and it container. You trottle cable and cruise control cable will also be attached to it. If you are unsure of its location, have a friend get inside the car and work the gas peddle. While you are looking at the top of the moter, you should see the linkage at the trottle body moving. Tha linkage is part of the trottle body.
