run fault codes and look for position sensors --MAP/MAF/VAF sensor problems and fuel /injector faults.

I have a 2005 chevy cobalt, and it has been driving fine until a couple of months ago. One day it just started shaking and my engine light started to flash on and off. I got it checked out and they said it...

It sounds like the catalytic converter might have come loose causing a loud exhaust leak. Did they repair the problem that caused the converter to plug up like a defective oxygen sensor or coil pack?

When i reach speed of 40-50mph my 1996 jeep grand cherokee starts shaking really bad. its definetly a engine thing not an alinment problem

If the shaking comes from the engine, then it may be missing due to an ignition or fuel injection problem.
If the car shakes a lot in the steering wheel or shimmies, then it may be due to underinflated tires or bad tires that need to be replaced.

The check engine light came on last night. I started the car this morning and the cara was shaking really bad from the engine and the engine is very quiet but the whole car has a shake or little knock to...

Could be a broken motor mount. Not uncommon to break one. However, for it to shake badly you may have just broken a second motor mount.

If the service center is close by, I would likely take the chance and drive it. I just wouldn't accelerate hard - and I would be very gentle. That is just my opinion - can't be "for sure" without knowing more.

Good luck.

Runs rough and engine shakes constantly

you dont tell me about first thing in the morning after the engine cooled /is it putting out blue smoke does it start easy /i came across a v6 in the past that done the same thing and even the old vw engine was known to do it ,broke the crankshaft,this would not allow the engine to fire right/advancing /retarting the timing.take all fuel filters out and put fuel direct to the engine and let it breath without air filter and see what happens, to what you tell me this lady is not getting enough fuel.but remember alwaws start at the start this whole problem could be a bad spark plug line .why not take a look under the hood after dark if everything is ok then you know to look further.come back to me on this one .adrian;;;;
