BF Falcon Heavy Duty .

AS this installation requires a mod plate certificate on the car then it is advisable to have it fitted at a certified tow bar fitting shop so that you can get the plate .; yes it costs but it will cost more if you have an accident without that plate.

Hi! I'm a new corvette owner, I own an '86 corvette, and my car is pretty much fully stocked, but I'm looking to invest into high performance parts. Though I'm unfamiliar with what mods I should be looking...

not breaking the bank is the real problem
first cheap mod is in replace the cam shaft with a torque producting cam ( not high lift or long duration as that gets to lumpy motor operation)
that will improve the engine breating with out making it a lumpy operation
next is to get a set of tuned mandrel bent extractors to assist with the better breathing cam
next is a properly balanced exhaust system (an accredited professional exhaust shop for this )
next is a decent carburation system
bigger is not better so don't think that a 750 double pumper will be better than a 55(with vacuum secondares)properly tuned as too much fuel puts out the fire.
the use of a chassis dyno and good speed shop advice will save money here)
next is a good electrical ignition system
prices are not always equal to performance
replace the stock air cleaner with a unit that allows the filter element to breath all around
so far all the items can be found from profession speed shops but try to pick one that has a chasis dyno so that you can gauge the effectiveness of what you have bought rather than just throwing money under the hood
you notice that at this stage I have not mentioned , over bored cyl;inders , increasing the stroke, port and polished , roller cam followers roller .rockers because if you want all of that you need to open the wallet wider and the engine will not be as reliable as it steps into the high performance bracket and that equals more stress on the moving parts
a smooth powerful car that has a good exhaust sound is more attractive that a lumpy loud piece of rubbish, and is more economical and reliable and will probably cost a lot less
shop carefully and use logicic in determining what you want

Where is the IAT sensor on a 2005 saturn ion

Your IAT is a sensor located on the left(looking from the front) of your air cleaner box.
If your going to install a mod chip, Throw away the 5 cent mod chip. Its going to make the engine run even more rich that it already does. You'll be bogging down the engine with extra unburnt fuel and loosing performance and shorting the life of your O2 sensor and the cat.
The IAT sensor "mod" works on some cars (ford), but not the Saturn. Sorry to say.

It may feel real good for a few miles, but your computer is going to BURY that thing, richen up that mix until the thing gets all loaded up on unburned fuel and you you toast your catalytic converter ($400.00).

Thank you for using fixya and good luck.

I bought a car with an engine i need to identify. the block code is 1001050

Phone up your local friendly GM auto dealer and speak to the parts department. Just say you are looking to doing some after market mods to your engine but you are not sure about the engine history and quote them the serial number. They will have the full spec on computer record of this engine and perhaps can tell you which car chassis/ model it was originally installed.

Can the EGR valve and vacuum mod, as well as the BVSV be elimnated

To begin with, it's illegal to tamper with smog equipment. And, you really wouldn't find any performance improvement in doing so.

Far better to leave the smog equipment as the factory installed it.

If you are looking for better performance, try ignition enhancements, such as split-fire plugs, ignition tuneups, etc.
