SOURCE: anti-lock n AWD

Call the dealership. I seem to remember that Pontiac had a recall for this problem just recently where the antilock brake system would lock op and the system caused people to get into accidents. This is a manufacture defect

SOURCE: Rear Wheel Bearing Repair; 2005 pontiac aztek

Remove the brake caliper
Remove the disc, (rotor)
Remove the 34mm nut on the axel shaft
Remove the three (3) bolts from the back side
You will need a wheel puller (three jaw will work well)
Place the puller over the hub and tighten, this will push the shaft out of the hub. Now you have to pull the hub assy. out of the mounting bracket. I found hitting each side,of the hub with a lead hammer to work well. Don't forget to disconnect the ABS senser on the back side of the hub assy.
Do not over tighten the 34mm axel nut when you install the new assy. If you use an impact whrench on it you will damage the bearing.

How do i get info on any recalls on my 2004 pont aztec & how do i get in contact with somebody about anti-lock & awd problems

Hi! Matt, Most likely if the anti-lock brake light and the awd disable light come on at the same time a wheel bearing / wheel speed sensor assembly is faulty.Listen for a humming noise when driving and try to determine where it is coming from(left/right/front/ back) or any looseness/play in any wheel. That's the possible bearing/wheel speed sensor causing the problem. Or have the abs system scanned to determine which wheel sensor is reading incorrectly. If the awd disable light is off then the awd system should be funtioning.

Awd disable light and anti lock light on

It could be a wheel bearing as the speed sensor for the abs is located in the bearing

Awd disable and anti lock light is on and a grinding noise in the front end

Hi, I can help

You have a bad wheel bearing assembly.
The bearing is starting to seize up, and it is telling computer there is a problem in ABS system, as well as AWD system.

First thing is to locate which bearing it is in the front end of the vehicle.

1)Jack up each side of the front end, place a safety support stand or jack stand under frame of vehicle.
2)Once vehicle wheel is free from ground spin the wheel and listen for grinding.
3)Compare each wheel as you spin and make your best judgment on which is more noisy.
4)This is your problem wheel you need to remember which side of the vehicle is the source of problem when ordering the part from your local auto parts store.

To repair: Remove wheel, remove brake caliper, then brake caliper bracket, then the rotor, remove center axle nut, then remove bolts for wheel bearing hub assembly.
Your ABS and AWD lights will reset themselves upon successful test drive following repair.
Let me know if you need more assistance or pictures.
Good Luck, have a great day.

Awd disabled light and anti-lock light is constantly on. i have purchased traction control sensor. I need to know if this is the fix and where it is located.

On my 2006 Montana AWD I had this same problem. It also disabled the auto start. There are 4 sensors, one on each wheel hub so either you can hear what sounds like a bad bearing while driving and locate it that way or you can have it hooked up to a diagnostic computar which should also tell you which one is bad. On the 06' the sensor and wheel hub are sold as one piece. Since owning this vehicle I have had to replace three hub assembles which do actually fix the problem till the next one fails. I have found this to be a common problem.

I have a 2004 Pontiac Aztek. The AWD Disable and Anti Lock lights are on and it doesn't want to accelerate? Anyone know or have had this problem?

The AWD Disable and Anti Lock lights can result from a bad wheel bearing as well as a bad speed sensor. They'll also come on if you have the spare tire on. Not sure if the acceleration problem is linked to the warning lights. Most car part stores have scanners they can check out the problem.
