I think you have to have the fuel pump checked. it seems that its not pumping enough gas to the engine so it shuts off after burning the remaining fuel in the line.

If the vehicle is equipped with a factory security system and the security light is blinking, the theft deterrent will not allow the vehicle to start. Have you tried another key? You can relearn the theft system. Make sure the battery has a good charge. Turn key on until all dash lights come on ( do not try and start ) and leave key in on position for 15minutes. Turn off key and wait 5 seconds. Try and start vehicle. Some times this procedure will need to be done 2 times in order for the relearn to be succesful.

Turn key, click from engine compartment but starter does not engage

Hi Thomas,
First things first. Any time you have an automotive question please include the year, make, model and engine size of the vehicle in question. This will help give you the most accurate information I possible can.

To generically address your problem....

A single click every time you turn the key to the start position usually indicates a bad starter. There are a couple things you can check.

1. Make sure there is twelve volts on the large wire to the starter when you try to start.
2. Make sure you can turn the engine over by hand

If those two pan out than tap the starter with a small hammer while a helper holds the key in the crank position (be prepared for the vehicle to start!). If the starter cranks over replace it.

If its a single click and everything goes dead until you let go of the key and wait a couple of seconds, check the battery connections.

A series of rapid clicks when you hold the key in the crank position usually indicates a bad/weak battery.

Let me know if you have any further questions and I'll be happy to answer them. Thank you for using Fixya.com!

2003 Jetta TDI Turns but does not start

If it starts when pulled by other vehicle then Glow Plugs. othervise check the Ignition Key Contacts, might be worn out.

I neither of those then give me some more information. What exactly engine it is, maybe u know engine code.

when you checked the fuel line fuel flowed when u tried to start the engine while the fuel line was disconnected from intake? have you checked the injectors? are they spraying fine or there's no command.
