Question about Jaguar X-Type

Open Question

I have a Jaguar x type v6 sport 2.5, 2001. Sometimes when slowing down towards a junction or roudabout, or turning left or right the engine cuts out loosing the power steering, which is very dangerous as you are turning. My ABS light comes on once I have drove for a few minutes, I have had the sensors changed and am now going to get changed the ABS ring which may be damaged. Also the engine managment light is still on, I had the oxygen sensor changed but the light still comes on. Had the diagnostics done again still showing the same problem. Is the oxygen sensor of the ABS cause for the engine to cut off. I am getting fed up and thinking of selling the car, the problem is I do not have much to buy a new car. Can someone please help me to sort the problem out.

Faults like this can rarely be solved in this manner as there are many things it could be, plus you need specialised diagnostic equipment. Take it to a renault repairer and get them to look at it.

Jaguar s type 3.0 v6 2001 unevan tick over and cuts out when in traffic will tickover at750 revs then drops to 500 and cuts out otherwise car runs fine and performance is as normal

sounds like classic symptoms of air leaking into engine after air meter, check air hoses to engine then when engine at idle - spray detector spray around the inlet manifold and if this is leaking at its gasket (very common problem on V6 at the rear of the engine) the engine note will change. see earlier posts with similar problems. hope this helps - good luck.

Engine missfire

Get your local garage to put a scanner on the car. The early s-type used to suffer from ignition coil faults. If a fault has been hinted towards a specific coil then swap to a different cylinder and see if the fault follows wich will indicate a coil fault.

Has the vehicle had its spark plugs changed? every 70.000 miles as they tend to fail if left unchanged. Intake manifold requires removing to replace bank 1 plugs.

Also check the small rubber elbow on the end of the plastic beather pipe wich runs throught the intake manifold branches. Elbow is located at the rear of the engine

Hope that helps

Jaguar s-type 2000 V6, car stops

I had the same problem it would run good in the freeway but if I slowed down it would turn off. If I was driving in the city same thing good until I hit a light. I took it to a mechanic and it had a leak. One of the boots close to the firewall was split open and was observing air. He told me that the only place it should be absorbing air thru is thru the air filter.
