Hi. I've just bought a 97 Audi A4 which came with only one key. It's a non-remote key. Should i have a remote key? If not can i get the non remote key copied? will it need prgramming?

with the key, unlock the drivers door and hold the key over(the windows will go down)wait 30 secs, then lock/hold the key over (the windows will go up)wait 30 secs then press/hold the unlock button on the remote, you have just reset the system.(if that dont work you WILL need to get the car onto a VW/AUDI diagnostic machine(dont bother with the mickey mouse type).
If you have a owners manual, it should tell you how in it. If you're battery's went dead in the remotes you should be able to program them according to the instructions in your owners manual. I have a 2001 jetta and in order to get a new remote programed I had to go to the dealer.
Make sure the batteries are oriented in the remote correctly..Also check the voltage on them with a meter, sometimes they are low right out of the package.
Hi pojo_nz,The fuses should be in the same place as my 95 Audi A4,open the drivers door and look at the end of the dash right in front of you, there is a plastic cover, pull it off its just clipped on and you will find the fuses there.
Cheers Dom.
