Question about 1999 Cadillac DeVille

1 Answer

I have a 99 Cadillac Deville and it has a vacuum hose that is leaking. I know this because I can hear it. It sounds like a clicking noise. I know I have to replace the hose, but first I need to find it. There are several of these little black hoses and they are all jammed in the back passenger side under the hood. It is hard to get at them. I would like to know a quick, easy way to locate and replace this faulty hose.

Get a can of carb cleaner with the straw in the nosel, When the engine gets to running temp spray a little carb cleaner on each hose. When you hear the eingine change RPMs, you have found the bad one.

My 2002 Deville has started making a whining noise when accelerating after about 35 mph. When decelerating it winds down and then stops.

check manifold gaskets for leaks, check vacuum hoses for leaks. check the transmission oil condition ( auto tranny)
if it is an auto then it may require the pan to come off and check for mechanical fault.

I don't have a shop manual for the 93 Deville; however, the sucking sound under the dash could be a vacuum leak. Check for the place where the pink hose should be plugged onto by looking at same vintage care in used car lot or you pull it.

Hi idle on Deville'02

Check for vacuum leak. Spray a mist of wd40 around the motor area and see if you find a dip in RPM. If so you found your leak, bad hose, loose hose, or deteriorated hose.

Have you checked for engine vacuum leaks at the intake manifold gaskets and any leaking engine vacuum hoses? Use propane to run this test.

99 caddilac deville, clicking noise under hood when heater goes on, coolant smell, and heat blowing thru defrost only

sounds like a bad vacuum diaphram, used to switch coolant flow and/or airflow direction. this is best repaired by an expert, but can be done at home, with the proper tools and a manual specific to your vehicle.

My 99 cadillac deville concourse is leaking coolant but don't know where its coming from, I replace the radiator and its still leaking

check is with a radiator tester to find leak it hooks on to the radiator where the cap is you pump it up and see if the pressure gauge goes down and it will let you hear or see where it's coming from. if you cant get one check all hoses and the thermostat housing.

Cad 2001 deville, When I press the brake peddle, I hear the sound of air flowing and the brakes don't engage like normal. As long as my foot on peddle I hear air. Peddle becomes hard to press.

the hose between the inlet manifold and the vacuum canister is leaking/clip gone,or the vacuum canister has gone.....check visually for cracks/air leaks(best if someone in car pressing pedal with your head under hood....

Water leaking on headliner

The hoses for your sun roof run down the front pillars. You may have clogs in the rear hoses that go down into the trunk area and when you move and stop the water rushes to the front hoses and run down. Gurgling is a good noise that the hoses are moving water. I would have all your hoses checked and flushed. The back hoses are most likely cloged or damaged.

If you can hear a clicking noise when you turn the key this means the starter motor needs replacing ok.
Let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

1984 CADILLAC DEVILLE LIMO WITH 4.1

This sounds like you have a vaccum leak. The most common spot to check is the base of the intake. An easy way to find it is to start the car and 'carefully' spray either in this area. you will hear the engine pickup a bit when you hit the spot! Replace the gaskets as necessary. Also check that vacuum hoses are all attached. Frankster016
