You may find it's not the steering wheel, but the steering rod end ball joint(s) are worn. Being such an important part I would recomend visitind a garage too get them checked, and it's not that expensive to get them changed (£45-$60 or so) about 1 hours work at the most.

My 2000 cadillac deville stearing wheels is driving very loose what could the problem be what can i check for

It needs to be taken apart and re-tightened that will require special tools. This will happen when the driver pulls down on it when shifting and adjusting their stern.

Tilt steering wheel loose 1989 chev truck

Not a fun job sorry!
1) Remove horn button. 2) Remove steering wheel. 3) Remove turn signal/cruise lever and cancel cam. 4) Remove tilt pins with a pin puller(about $10) 5) Tighten the four loose screws that hold tilt mechanism to the column.
Be happy you do not have airbags.

The steering column on my 1985 Corvette is loose (wiggles around). How do you tighten it up?

Do you have a tilt steering colum if so you have to pull the stearing wheel .remove the turn signal assembly ( all this requires some specialty tools Like a wheel puller stearing coloum tool to depress the steering wheel lock ) if your not equiped call a mechanic and save some time.

Steering wheel loose (about to fall off it seems) and horn will honk when wheel is turned. how to tighten wheel and silence horn

if it is the whole column then there are two bolts to tighten at the bottom of the dash. If it is the wheel itself then be careful because the airbag could eject so unless you know how to disarm the airbag system you need to get professional help. Good luck Darrell S

Overheating

Check the serpentine/driving belt. It looks like it is loose or broken.
Water pump and stearing pump usually drive by the same belt. So overheating and stearing problems might have the same cause.
Hope that helps
good luck

Loose steering wheel

Disconnect negative battery cable(10mm).
Insert key and rotate steering wheel until one of the mounting bolts for the airbag are visible from the backside (7/32 or 5.5 mm).Unscrew and rotate 180 degrees until the other is visible.Pry airbag off with a small screwdriver (being very careful) release yellow connector and place airbag aside with leather or vinyl pointing up.
Use a 24mm socket and tighten to 37 ft.pounds.
Reverse procedure to re-install airbag.
Connect cable and remember the computer will have to relearn its settings so car may run different for a while..
