Question about 1995 Eagle Talon
I have a 95 talon that does not always start and then 3 or so hours later will start. I had it jumped and drove 5 min tops and they said it could be alternator but that I had a fully charged battery. I also notice that my interior lights do not work all the time. The theft/engine chip thingy light does not always work when the car wont start. any ideas
You will probably have a fully charged battery when it is left to sit for awhile and allowed to slowly recharge.....most batteries are designed to recharge a little after they have been drained down after about 30 to 40 minutes (if its a good battery)!...if your battery is more than three years old, i"d change that first...but if your car has over 100K miles and the alternator has never been changed... i would say that that's the likely culprit! especially if the engine has been spray cleaned a lot. but check for a loose (Serpentine) belt first... if it's real loose, you"ll never charge the battery properly....you could also just as quickly check the battery post for loose or corroded connections... and you only "test" a battery for load amps.. not voltage...buy your next battery with as much cold cranking amps as you can afford.. 600-900amps!..it will say on the info label. If your ever in the snow, you"ll wish you had those extra amps!
