SOURCE: 1995 volkswagon passat starts while in gear.

Since you have already tried the obvious look to make sure that the new switch is properly engaging when you move the pedal. Most of these switches have some adjustment in their placement. Otherwise search through the wire harness and tape up ANY cracks or breaks in the plastic coating. Also look at all the connectors for green corrosion. If you find or suspect corrosion replace the connector. VW''s are picky when it comes to corrosion and breaks in wire insulation. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Volkswagen passat 96 AC relay location

You should never connect a 12volt to the compressor solenoid.unless you unplug it first, because on some cars the ac solenoid is driven by an electronic circuit. Semiconductors are very sensitive to excessive current. I once had to repair the computer on a mercedes because the other mechanic did that. Luckily I know how to repair electronic circuits, or they would have bought a 500 dollars computer the little chip that blew only costed a dollar fifty cents at radio shack,.LOL. Anyways back to your problem, Have you checked if there is a leak, and all the refrigerant might have leaked out? This would prevent the compressor from coming on. Along the ac line there is a switch, sometimes by the reciever drier, when the system looses refrigerant the pressure inside drops and that pressure switch disable the compressor. , and the compressor wont come on. This is to protect the compressor, because it will be damaged if you run it without refrigerant. Ac clutch solenoid is usually is not driven by relay, because an ac solenoid don't really take much current to to kick in, unless of course it is shorted. It would either be directly from the inside switch usually in series with the fan control or driven by a small transistor in a circuit, and the electronic circuit is driven by the ac controls inside. I think the problem with your ac is that it has no refrigerant thats why the compressor wont come on.

Oil leak coming from the top right hand side of the motor by the cam shaft talked to dealer and it got me no where need to know what that part is and what is does so i can stop the leak

could be the cam cover case, or the cam shaft bearing seal leaking.
cam cover gasket easy change. cam shaft bearing seal, not really a bearing its shims. that involves removing the timing belt and taking out the cams and replacing the shims on all of them best to do all as when you start moving stuff you can put a crack in the old ones when refitting.

Is it worth replacing cat 1 and 2 in a 2003 vw passat 6 cylinder? Car has 117k is in overall good condition: recently replaced heater core, valve casket cover and struts. Unemployed and not sure if...

If the car has been well maintained and it is in very good condition, no dents, nice interior condition and so on then by all means spend the money, if the above is not the case and you are sure the Catalytic converters are defective and careful diagnosis bears out that the are worn out then I would think about replacing the car. I would suspect that you are looking at around $1500.00 to replace the Cats?

How to replace timing belt 1995 vw golf

  1. remove air intake pipe, and box (upper and lower section)
  2. take off timing belt cover
  3. take off serpintine belt, and v belt
  4. rotate engine to TDC marks line up on crank and cam. camshaft says O^T on it and on the cover behind gear, crank has a notch in the pulley and a arrow on the cover to line up
  5. remove crank pulley 6mm allens not the 19mm 12 bolt
  6. make sure timing belt is still at TDC remove lower timing belt cover there is 3 bolts and a nut holding it on the nut is by the water pump and the bolts are on on top and 2 behind the crank pulley
  7. remove cover
  8. mark intermediate shaft shaft right above the crank pulley
  9. remove belt
  10. install reverse of removal make sure to line up all 3 pulleys cam crank and intermediate shaft or it wont run and depending on how bad it is out of time if you do it wrong you could bend valves
Assuming this is a 2.0 8v your question is pretty vague
