Question about 1988 Honda Accord 4 Door

1988 honda accord fuel injected starts one time

Fuel injected1988 honda accord starts every other time. Acts like the coil goes bad. Replaced the coil 4 times still does it. Most of the time kicking the bumper makes it start. I even replaced the wiring harness that connects to the back of the keyswitch.

The MAIN RELAY is a pretty big problem on these. I'm not saying thats your problem, but I would start there.

Just a guess here, but check your ignition coil. Make sure it's mounted nice and tight to the block. a bad ground on a coil will mess with you bad. other than that, I'd check and replace your fuel filter.

You failed to state whether its carburated or fuel injected. if its fuel injected you will most def need to replace the fuel injection main relay. first test it by following the link i gave you. this is a common problem on ALL hondas

My 1993 Honda accord wont start, I replace the

I like to make sure the timing belt is not skipped or broken by watching the cam turn inside the valve cover. Then I lay a spare spark plug on valve cover connected to any plug wire to see if it sparks. Fuel can be confirmed by smelling the exhaust, or by using starting fluid . These cars are famous for a coil relay solder break problem. The relay is heat expansion damaged, its mounted high up in the dash drivers side corner it is about 3" square gray.

I have an 87 Accord with fuel injection that always had a fast idle, and a surging problem when warming up. Both problems went away when I replaced the fast idle valve, which is bolted to the rear of the intake manifold just downstream of the throttle body.
