Its flooded. recharge the battery with a battery charger and try again in the morning. one thing to NOT DO is atart it up, and like move it outside to wash it, and turn it off. that will flood it ASAP. if you contact the dealer they will know all about it, VERY COMMON.

After hot engine wont start and smells like gas

Most likely causes are bad engine coolant temp sensor OR leaking fuel injectors. Bad engine coolant temp sensor will give computer false reading and computer provides wrong air fuel mixture. Leaking fuel injectors will load the engine with raw gas--just like flooding it. Try pushing the gas pedal to the floor and holding it there when cranking when hot. That forces the computer into "clear flood" mode and it shuts off the injectors. If it starts up with pedal down, that would be a sign of leaking injectors.

Have a 2007 rx-8, car turns over but will not start, keeping gas pedal down to the floorboard doesn't work. Battery drops to about 11 volts when you crank

Need to try and isolate which system is preventing it from starting. Make sure fuel pump is running, you should hear it come on for a couple seconds when you turn the key to on. 11 volts is not that bad, you are usually good down to 9v.

I have an issue with a 87 toyota pick up carburetor. Sometimes it doesnt want to start and sometimes it does a friend told me its that diaphram on the front of the carb with the 3 bolts but he could not...

Okay, your freind may be right, that part is called the accelerator pump, it is used for starting the truck, when you pump the gas to start it this pumps a few squirts of gas into the carb. what concerns me is that you hold the gas pedal to the floor to start it, most of the time an internal leaking carb floods the engine and holding the pedal down will let it start, a quick test would be to use a carb cleaner spray and before trying to start the truck hit the gas pedal and see if inside from the top of the carb look and see if you see a squirt of gas spray out, you will need some one to push the gas pedal or you can do it at the carb, if it squirts gas then the accelerator pump may be good and carb may be leaking and need rebuilding but if it doesnt squirt then its bad and then i want you to spray the carb cleaner into the carb and try to start the truck and if its due to the accel pump then after you spray into carb the truck should fire up and run without having to hold the pedal to the floor, if thats the case then replace accel pump if it still doesnt fire until you hold gas down then crab needs rebuilding . good day. hope this is helpful.

Chrysler 2000 Sebring will not start

remove the air inlet hose to expose the throttle body, open the flap(simulating wide open throttle) spray carb n choke cleaner in to the engine if the engine start u have a fuel problem, like fuel pump or no injector pulse. if the car still doesnot start then u have a ignition problem, cranksensor or cam sensor etc... they should set a code

Engine won't crank over,it's a five speed when pushed starts right up and runs good.when turned off will not start when you turn the key nothing, not a sound at all..

check to make sure the clutch pedal switch is functioning and that the floor mat isn't blocking the clutch pedal from hitting the switch, basically its either the clutch pedal switch or something between the ignition switch to the starter but i'd try the clutch pedal switch first, its the easiest to check

The early V8s were bad to flood out. Try holding foot all the way down to floor when cranking.(This tells on board computer to shut off fuel while cranking) Crank like this for at least 45 seconds. Repeat this two or three times. The next time, while cranking, take your foot off the pedal for just a second, then back to the floor. These gives it just a little bit of fuel. Do this for five minutes or so. If it is flooded, you will hear that the longer you do this, the more the car sounds like it will run. If it catches, hold gas pedal half way down while running. This will clear the raw gas out of the system. If this doesnt work, in the trunk fuse box(take cover off) is a row of relays(brown 1 inch squares) in a "T" configuration beside fuses. Tap on them or swap them around. They are bad to stick. The second relay down in the center of the T should be the fuel pump relay. If these suggestions don't work, I would advise calling the dealer. But these are the most common faults. Good luck!

Make sure you have a fully charged battery. When starting the car, push the gas pedal down to the floor to engage the choke. Then push pedal halfway down and turn the ignition. Try jump starting to see if it is the battery. If it still turns slow it may be a bad starter.

Car shakes when trying to start and doesn't turn over

  1. hold gas pedal to floor while trying to start. do not pump pedal.
  2. holding pedal to floor is how you start a flooded f.i. engine
