My 1990 mitsubishi montero 4X4 3.0 will not start weak spark and low compression in all 6 cyclinders HELL please

At the age of the vehicle, the problem could be most anything. If it is like some of the chevrolets of that time frame. you should first check the coil, then the ignition module. Low compression could mean a blown head gasket, but for all cyclinders, I would guess an overhaul would be necessary, combined with the other problems, unless the car has a special meaning for you, i would replace the vehicle.

97 montero 3.5 6G74 no spark on cylinder one

Typically if your control module is bad, you won't developed a "localized" misfire, meaning on just one or two cylinders. So rule out that you simply got a bad part. Have you done a routine tune up? Spark plugs, wires (or coils), fuel filter, etc.? Typically you're going to want to start with plugs when diagnosing a misfire condition, followed by wires or coils (if it has a coil on plug set up). If you haven't, try that first.

Coge reading P0300. 3 &6 Cylinder has no spark. Changed ignition coil. Stll 3 & 6 has no spark. What next>

Did you solve this problem? I am having a rough time figuring this one out on my 99 Montero! Maybe the ignition control module (power unit) or an ECU problem? Please let us know if you have solved it! Thanks

1990 Mitsubishi Montero... Will not turn over

No worries. I think you may be finding it difficult to explain whats happening without being familiar with the terminology. That can be frustrating for both of us.

For example:
  • Turning over - the spinning of the engine by the starter prior to the engine actually starting. Not turning over implies a bad starter or dead battery.
  • Getting Spark - each plug is firing at the proper time, implies the ignition system, which includes the coil, distributor, cap, rotor, plugs and wires are working.
I don't think thats what you were trying to say though. So lets try again.

Why don't you put it in your own words? I can help a bit with a few questions.

  1. What happens when you turn the key? Does the engine turn over? Make a clicking sound? Just sit there doing nothing?
  2. If the engine turns over, is it strongly? weakly?
  3. Does the engine seem like its trying to start? Or just spin?
  4. What prompted the spark comment? Did someone check? Describe.
  5. Can you smell gas? Is there gas in it?
  6. Has any other event, no matter how seemingly unrelated occurred to the vehicle lately?
  7. If the spark plugs are new, who replaced them? A pro?
  8. While trying to start it, does it backfire?
Please comment back or repost with answers to these questions

Believe me, with one exception, we are able to understand what you are trying to tell us. That exception is when you use terminology that means one thing to describe another thing. It throws us off.
