Automatics can be changed to manual but its not that easy. Not only do you have to change the gear box you have to change all related parts (ie: driveshaft, flywheel, ujoints etc.) you then have to hang a clutch petal mount a slave cylinder. Might want to rethink this project.

I hear you saying that you are changing the engine not the transmission??
The gear box will probally fit the engine with a like code. Be sure to install a pilot bearing in the back of the crankshaft to support the transmission input shaft front end (Automatics do not have the bearing since the flex plate and the torque converter turn with the engine) This may require some machine work to size the OD of the bearing since the crank on the automatic engine may not be bored to the specs for the bearing. Good Luck

I have 2010 jg holden cruze 1.8 petrol auto and want to replace the engine with the 1.4 turbo engine what do I need to do

here is a suggestion that is not so far out
instead of messing around with an engine change , why not fit a turbo kit to existing engine all you need to then is to have a speed shop with an chassis dyno fit a chip in the ECM for the turbo and you will be getting top performance and economy for around the same price as the smaller engine with the turbo
lets see what you have saved
problems fitting the engine to the transmission
problem radiator hose configuration
new chip in the ECM for the small engine
possible different ECM wiring and harness
here is what you get
far more torque than with a turbo smaller capacity engine
fewer installation problems
if you have it all installed by the turbo shop then it is professional and warranted
anyway just a suggestion

Is it possible to fit a manual gear box to an automatic 1996 2.6 petrol holden rodeo?

You should be good as long as you replace the flywheel on the automatic engine with the one from the manual. You may also have to replace some sensors once you get it up and running because a manual will drive different that the auto and your pollution control will likely act up by turning on codes.

I am not sure but most turbos are mounted directly to the exhaust manifold. I imagine that all you would want is a turbo manifold and it should be a go from there
