- Put the truck where there is plenty of light, OR bring a shop light under there

- Put the truck on a surface you don't mind lying on (i.e. NOT gravel or mud). Bring a piece of carpet if you don't want to get your clothes dirty

- Bring your wrenches BEFORE you crawl under the truck

- Crawl under the truck, to the REAR of the battery (don't be wimpy about crawling under there if you have no lift. There is plenty of room)

- Unfasten the NEGATIVE terminal, and wedge it where it will NOT contact anything metallic on the truck (or better, TAPE it WELL). THIS IS A SAFETY and ANTI-DAMAGE PRECAUTION SO TAKE IT SERIOUSLY

- Unfasten the POSITIVE terminal, and wedge it where it will not contact anything metallic (or tape it)

- Undo whatever else might be holding the battery in the box (I cannot remember, and I like I said above, I am currently between SSRs)

- Here is the neat part: The battery tray swings down a few inches to enable easy removal and reinstallation of the battery! Swing it down!

- Remove battery

- Reverse above steps EXACTLY to reinstall. ESPECIALLY the order of the terminals.

Some additional "useful data":

Do not drop the battery . . . Changing the car battery for a 2004 SSR - smile.gif

Do not try to open the doors with the battery disconnected. They cannot "index" the windows down without the battery, so you will tear the window glass past the window seals - not good.

Do NOT leave the key in the ignition before removing the battery - that will LOCK the key there until the battery is back in!

EXPECT some re-learning by the computer after the battery removal / reinstallation, about things like (a) clock time and (b) the ideal air/fuel ratios for your typical driving, as it loses all this kind of stuff when the battery is removed.

Are their specific directions for changing my Buick Lesabre 2000 car battery

As you probably know, the battery is located under the rear seat, on the passenger side. So you need to remove the rear seat, disconnect ground (neg) then positive, there are vent tubes to draw fumes produced by battery out of the vehicle, make sure they are not pinched or moved away from the proper location. GM should be ashamed of how they locate the batteries in their cars, it is a real pain to get to them.

Looking for my battery on a 2004 cadillac deville

the battery is located under the rear seat cushion on your cadillac deville, to remove the rear seat cushion just pull up on the front of the cushion to release it and pull it forward. you will see the battery and a fuse block.

there are also terminals under the hood that run directly to the battery for jumpstarting but going to the battery itself is the best way. those re-located terminals don't usually work because the amperage has to travel pretty far to get to the battery.
