The only way you can do your own testing if you have a friend who have the same or close perameter with years by swooping the unit to see if it work. I don't know of any place offer a bench test to dodge computer. if you do find a company does the bench testing it would cost you 50-75 buck. if you have to replace the unit, look at ebay, for used and rebuilt; it will save you lots of money, new will cost you arms and the legs. common problems with dodge.

My 05 ford focus Zx3 2.0L I went to smog for twice still don't passed the smog test the reader said cat is not ready evap is not ready 2 air is not ready what I have to do

Did you disconnect the battery recently? Or have the car worked on to correct a check engine light problem? And they reset the codes?

When this happens (loss of all power or code reset), the computer will run all its tests on all systems, and set a 'ready' condition when the tests are passed. Some tests require multiple 'drive cycles' or specific conditions (less than full tank of gas but more than 1/4 tank) to complete the test. Until all (or a specific number - some non-critical tests may be exempted) tests are 'ready', the car will not be passed. The assumption being that until a test is successfully completed, the computer may discover a problem with a system, one that would fail the smog test.

If you're confident that all problems have been fixed, you need to run through enough drive cycles so the computer can complete all required tests. Most ODBII code readers can also read the readiness of the systems. And most parts stores will read your codes for you (and system status) or let you borrow a reader.

2003biuick crv I cant read the computer.what can I do ?

You have to be able to test for power going to the scanner off of the OBD II plug ur missing positive or ground u can test it by using digital meter that is computer safe or test light that is computer safe one of the prawn should show positive and one should show negative see what is missing and supply to operate and test. Don't forget to test the fuses.
Good Luck

My '11 Mazda 3 has batt disconnected. Need emission test to renew reg Do I need to do anything to reset computers for it to pass the test

U need various driving condition for couple of days or so includes freeway driving for about 20 minutes to set your computer monitors ready to pass the OBD testing part I would first ask the smog tech to pre-check d computer if ready before testing.
Good Luck

I replaced battery but now it won't pass emission test because the "Drive Cycle" wasn't reading. What do I need to do to "read"?

Your vehicle needs to relearn itself, and run tests on the emissions equipment.

Your car is a rolling smog machine. The law requires that the computer test ALL of the emissions parts regularly.
Items such as engine sensors and misfire counters can easily be checked by virtue of the engine running. But SOME components aren't computer components. So to test them the car must be driven for a period of time, in a certain manner so that the computer can test them (fuel cap, catalytic converter, EGR valve, etc.).

When you disconnect the battery, the computer loses the results of the last test (pass or fail) and registers a "not ready" status during the test.

Most of the techs can manage to clear nearly all of the MONITORS in less than 10 miles or so. To see how this is done, do a "Google" for OBD II DRIVE CYCLE, and read the procedure.
If you are unfamiliar with this protocol, simply drive your car for 50-100 miles or so, but not all at one time. It needs some cold starts, some warm-up time, some stop and go and some easy freeway cruising. Then take it back for re-test.

I can't get an inspection sticker for my car because it keeps failing inspection because the computer will not reset. Every time it does the same thing. When they test the OBDII Readiness it says the...

Every time you reset the light or disconnect the battery it completely resets the system and it has to go through EVERY test again. The O2, EVAP, and Cat tests are generally the LAST THREE tests that are tested. You're not doing yourself any favors here.

Essentially what these readiness monitors are is the computer's notation that his has run the self diagnostics on each system and that the results feel into the expected results. If it is outside the expected results the computer will generally try to run the test multiple times before setting a DTC and turning on the Check Engine Light. It cannot set the status to "Ready" until it has a successful test within expected results; sometimes multiple successful tests. Sometimes, the tests need to run at different speeds - so the vehicle has to be driven not only at freeway speeds, but also city speeds for the tests to complete properly.

The O2 test MUST complete before the Catalyst test can run. The EVAP test generally requires that you have your fuel level at between 1/4 and 3/4 and that the vehicle sit undisturbed after being driven for a period of time for no less than 8 hours in order to run the EVAP test.

The same can be said for the O2 test sometimes because the computer needs to test the O2 sensors reaction to heating up and cooling down. Eventually they will all complete - unless there is an issue. I have seen where a component was in the process of going out and the computer was getting both GOOD and BAD results when running the tests. As a result it wouldn't set ready status because it wasn't getting the concurrent GOOD test results.

As a Texas Recognized Emissions Repair Facility - my shop sees this kind of stuff all the time.

Good Luck.

1992 Chavy Cavalier 2.2L engine. No Spark

This could be a few things, you will need to do some testing, fist check all grounds and connections to crank sensor and the module also remove computer connector and make sure pins on connector and computer are good and not broken, from there remove the module and have it tested. a lab scope would be needed to test crank sensor and a multimeter to test coils, this is going to take some testing you could have a bad module or crank sensor or coils or computer,

Jeep dies at lights. about 8 hrs between incidents. pos: cps, cam sensor, fuseable link, computer

First, remove fusible link and computer from your list. Computers do fail but odds are it is something else and not that. Fusible link is either good or it's not. Aside from those items, everything under the hood is suspect till it's been tested and verified (fuel pump as well).
Begin with a code scan (most larger parts stores do that free). Get a haynes or chilton manual to use as a test guide and a decent multi-meter to do further testing. Use results from scan (if any) as a guide, starting point for testing.
Also be aware that sometimes a component can test good unless it's tested when the problem is actually happening. (fuel pump and cps can both do that)

WHAT ARE THE SIGNS OF A BAD CAR COMPUTER

The only way to condem a computer is by testing every component related to your problem. Then test the ground and power to the computer. Then clean every engine and body ground/ Then test for proper reference voltage and ground to the sensors. Then look at the compuer data and see if it reads the same as when you tested at the sensor. Then check the resistance in the signal wire if something is not the same. If 0ohms resistance then you prabably have a defective computer. Remember any system in a computer can become defective. You need to know what info is correctly making it to the computer and then what output control the computer is suppose to command. This is what you test. If you know the info is being delivered, then you test the output control at the pcm for the proper command., easy huh, lol
