Brake switch is bad. Check to see if you have brake lights. Brake switch is under the dash and it touches the brake arm.

Brake lights work tail lights do not

This could be your reason. Some vehicle come equiped with a double filiment bulb. It could be that this part of your tail light bulb is blown. Try removing one of the bulbs to see if the filiment is broken. If you can not see this, replace the bulb.

The other senario is that the fuse in your fuse panel controling your tail lights (running light) is blown. This is usually on a seperate fuse than your brake lights. Your owner's manual should state which fuse is what on your panel and replace is with the exact same ratted fuse that it calls for.

Good luck! Hope I helped.

1994 Corolla shifter won't release & no brake lights

Hope this isn't too late. You can override the shifter interlock - there is a small plug to the left of the shifter lever on the center console. Pry off the plug and insert a screwdriver and this will release the shifter button.

The brake lamp fuse is probably blown. This fuse also controls the shifter interlock.

Replace the fuse. When you put your foot on the brakes, if it blows again, you need to inspect your tail light sockets for wear. After a long time, the terminals on the bulb sockets wear and start to touch, causing the fuses to blow. You can replace the whole tail light harness in a few minutes and a junkyard should have them for a few dollars.

Both brake lights and 3rd light in back window fail to light when brake is applied. tail lights do work when headlights are on.

it can be a few problems but i would start by checking the fuses. after that look under the dash where the brake pedal is. you will see a switch there that toggles on when you apply the brakes. i have to mention one other thing because i've had experience with it. check to make sure the bulbs are good. unless your car is equipped with a warning system or you check the brake lights often they may all be burned out over a period of time without you knowing it. a small trick to that is whenever you are backing up or near a something that you can see the back of your vehicle... apply the brakes... if you don't see lights on one or both sides it's time to start changing bulbs.
the tail lights working is independent of the brake lights as generally if it's the same bulb it will have two filiments.

Rear tail and brake lights out 97 Jetta

I believe this car has a bulb with two fillaments for side and brake lights, it is unlikely that they are both burnt out at the same time but possible. It is more likely that the bulb holder or a ground connection is rusted or loose. The fuse generally covers all rear lights.

99 neon running tail lights do not work but tail lights work when brakes are applied....help

what you are seeing is the bright filament on the bulb working,
the tail light bulbs have two filaments in each bulb, one is dim and one is bright, the bright one is to the brake and turn signals, that way when you step on the brake with the tail lights on the same lens light up brighter to warn drivers behind you..
you need to check the fuses in the car for tail lights first, see if your plate light is on that will tell you the bulbs are just blown

Little yellow warning light goes on. All bulbs

you most likely have a wrong brake light bulb. if the bulb is a different wattage it will still work but the bulb warning light will still illuminate.

Volvo s40 1998 bulb warning light on, what does this mean

If by that you mean:

"warning light goes on when I start the motor, and goes off after first time I use the brake pedal"

, don't worry, it's normal, it's how it work. If it stays on even after the use of brakes, you have a bad bulb on brake tail lamps

Dash lights, tail lights, brake lights, not working 1965 mustang

Probably either a bad ground (broken wire, rust) or a bad headlight switch. The brake light circuit goes from the stop switch (Located up above the brake pedal) through the headlight switch, through the light bulbs to ground. The tail light circuit goes through the headlight switch, through the bulbs and to ground. The only things that are in common are the headlight switch (Is this the switch you replaced?) and ground.
Not much, but hope this helps.
Have a super day!
