Very likely the condensor is faulty. Do make sure clutch is engaging and you have power to compressor..

engine temperature sensor ? On a cold start the sensor tells the ECU it's cold so the ECU adds more fuel until the engine is warm.

Motor cuts out

Depending on the make model and year, you should have a device that will raise idle speed to cover the load put on the engine by the ac compressor. That device may not be working, or the compressor may be pulling the engine down too much.

Heater doesn't get hot on 96 chevy truck. Blows good, just cold. Replaced thermostat, flushed radiator. Any ideas?

Air Temperature Control Blend Door Failure No Heat or no AC (dependes on where door sticks)

In all modern cars there is a tiny DC electric motor driven gear drive that moves a plastic door that blends heated and cooled air from the AC and the heater core, this is called (interestedly enough) the air temperature control blend door actuator. The motor that moves this door fails because the door starts sticking from warping, most common complaint is no heat but it can be no AC as well. To replace these parts (blend door and blend door actuator) you must remove the entire dash from the car. Always have this problem confirmed by a dealer or qualified repair shop as it is a very expensive repair.

Other causes of no heat in the cabin are engine thermostats that are stuck open (engine runs cold) or air bubbles in the cooling system.

I have a 97 gmc safari. AC control is stuck on defrost. AC runs cold but will not switch from defrost to vents even when changing knob position. Any ideas what could be wrong?

The HVAC system uses engine vacuum to open and close the blend doors. Check for a broken vacuum line in the engine compartment. It will exits the firewall left (passenger side) of center and will be a hard plastic line. With age and exposure to engine compartment temperatures they become brittle and break. It can be repaired with a rubber vacuum line that fits snugly over the line to reconnect them.

My 1997 Honda Accord 4cyl. condenser fan began to run continuously (even after engine was shut off) after cycling the A/C temp. selector from hot to cold. I disconnect the condenser fan to avoid draining...

Sounds like the AC relay/switch is sticking on sometimes. Locate and swap this relay. Look at your fuse box lids for location or search online for the exact location. You also might have a leak in the ac lines or the AC condenser clutch is not engaging to kick the ac on. You should feel a slight power loss or hear a slight stutter in the engine when pressing your AC switch. This means everything kicked on. It's a millisecond before the ECU realizes this and kicks up the idle to compensate.

AC freezes up after running two hours.

If it actually is freezing up,the low pressure switch is the likely cause. It is screwed into the large ac line near the firewall, witch is the cold line.If it is not there it is in the dryer, near the firewall,or under the air filter box.Follow the ac line(large ac line/hoses)from the ac compressor untill you come to the switch, that is the easy way to locate it.This low pressure switch causes the ac compressor to cycle on and odd according to the pressure sensed from the ac low side line. When it gets really cold the pressure is lowered, and there for it will cut off,and when the pressure rises,it cuts the ac compressor back on.It would be a really good idea to check the freon in the vehicle first. If the ac system is low on freon,it will freeze up on some vehicles.

it could also be telling you that your freon is low. have it checked if its good then you have a computer control problem seperate from the engine its a control just for heat and ac.
