First make sure you do have gas in the tank don't just go by the reading of the fuel gauge.I had a similar problem and here's what i did...I removed the rear deck cover to expose the fuel pump so i could hear if it was running. Then i jumped fuse #14 with fuse #20 (1996 saab 9000) i heard the fuel pump running but it sounded funny like it was not picking up any gas.Yes my fuel gauge was reading incorrectly and i was out of gas.Put some gas in the tank and car started instantly and kept running.

What I believe to be a fuel pump problem

If it was the fuel pump, when you spray starter fluid in, it should have started and ran for a couple of seconds. She lost spark. Replace the crank sensor. Sorry I can't ell you exactly where it is, but most are behind the harmonic balance. Lowest pulley on the front of the engine.

Engine turns over but won't start

Start with testing the coil. Disconnect the wire and have someone crank the engine to check for spark. The spark should jump about 1/4 inch. If spark is good, suspect fuel problem. Spray some ether into the intake while the engine is cranked. If it starts and then stops, it is a fuel problem. Your battery is probably going to go dead with all this cranking, so keep a charger on it. Also give your starter time to cool between long cranking.

Why won't my jeep start after replacing the battery & the spark plugs?

Need four basics to start the engine; timing, spark, fuel and air.

Is the engine cranking? If so, have someone to spray 'starter fluid' into the immediate air induction port. If it doesn't fire and run for a few seconds, check the distributor source. If it does fire and run for a second or two, you may have a fuel pump down.

Cranks but wont start

Likely a fuel delivery problem.

Check the filter, as it may be clogged and due for replacement. To test for fuel delivery, open your airbox and spray some starter fluid (purified ether, usually) down into the throttle body while someone else cranks the engine. If it fires up and runs for a few seconds but won't run without spraying the starter fluid, then you know you've got spark and compression. If that's the case, there could be any number of potential issues: throttle position sensor (not very common, but it does happen), fuel injectors clogged (common if you use low-grade fuel), fuel filter/strainer clogged (filters should be replaced every 30k miles or so, on average), fuel pump failure (you should hear a buzzing from the fuel pump when you crank the engine).

If the starter fluid doesn't help, then the problem is no spark. Check each plug/cable for fouling.

It have a 1994 crown victoria it ran out of gas I put 5 gallons of gas in it, when I turned the motor over it started right up, it ran for about a minute and a half then quit. I changed the filter, checked...

Air in the fuel line. Take one small wire off the starter relay and turn and hold the key in the start position for a while. Listen for the fuel pump. It will run fast for a second then slow down. When it does, put the wire back on the starter relay and crank the engine.

Oil ran out while driving..plug had came out. put oil & plug in & truck will not start. 2002 ford f250

You ran the truck out of oil? If so then you have seized the engine up and it wont start again. If your lucky the engine could be rebuilt using the same block but the internals will all need to be replaced.

Ran out of gas now it won't crank

when u say it won't crank do u mean the engine won't spin over with the starter? that is what no crank means to a mechanic. if this is not the case and the starter does work then the most probable cause is the fuel pump has seized up from lack of cooling (it is cooled by the gasoline it sits in) when you ran out of gas, to confirm this buy a can of starting fluid (avil from any auto parts store) and spray the fluid into the intake of the engine, if it starts you need a fuel pump, the pump is located inside the gas tank.
