Crunching/groaning sound when turning the steering wheel

As with the other problem on the 2005 Pacifica, I have a 2007 Pacifica that makes a sound when turning the steering wheel, but not when driving down the road. This does not occur all the time and it happens to not occur when I bring it in for service, so they cannot figure out what the problem is. Fortunately it did make some sort of noise when one of the mechanics took it for a spin last time I was there. There was some bulletin that came out in June regarding this noise and fwhat to fix if this noise occured or if customers complained. They did what the bulletin said, but it is still making the same noise as before. I will be taking it back in next week for yet another look at what the problem may be. Thanks.

Why is the steering making a moaning sound on 1991 volkswagen westfalia ?

Groaning in the column itself could be the column bearings, or perhaps the horn contacts, although they make more of a scraping sound. A little lube sprayed between the steering wheel and column may help that. If you're referring to noise in the steering itself, sometimes the front upper control arm bushings groan when they're worn out. Or power steering fluid loss due to leakage from rotted power steering lines under the van. Trying to address all that I can think of, but your question is rather vague.

Whining noise when step on gas

Sounds like the power steering pump. check the fluid level. Have someone listen under the hood while you are turning the steering wheel. If the whine gets louder, your pump could be the issue.

2005 saturn vue, have rubbing sound when turning steering wheel at low speeds, occurs when backing up or going foward

I would start by inspecting the tire and wheel well for any physical contact. Outside of that, is sounds like a wheel bearing. A failing wheel bearing or a bearing with a flat spot will groan and sometimes mimic the sound of mud tires. A flat spot can be causes by even a slight impact the the wheel.

Steering is choppy / groans at startup

The first economical solution is to have a shop to change out the steering fluid and the filter to see if improved. If it os not then we can talk about the steering pump service. Good luck.

96 Grand Am Groaning

Sounds like the power steering pump failing. If it seems to be worse when you turn the wheel at a stop, it is time for a new p/s pump.

Popping sound from Chrysler Pacifica

it is called a clockspring.
the other thing to check is that the rear part of the steering wheel is clearing the column shroud properly.
call a few places in your area and how much it is to change the clockspring.
