Question about 2004 Kia Sedona
We bought our 2004 Kia Sedona EX in 2006. There was a CD stuck in the radio and got it out by resetting it (small tiny button to push with a pen or something) and then press the power button, and then the CD eject button to have the CD pop out. Right after resetting it and turning the radio on (power button) though, watch out...you'll become deaf. The volume is up REALLY high and the bass & treble options are turned all the way down, etc.
Well...after awhile, when playing cd's, whenever I would turn the engine off after parking or whatever, the cd player makes a strange sound...as if something is stuck in it (the sound that a fan makes when you put a piece of paper in it, kind of). I thought it was the cd making the sound in there and it was getting stuck again. I turn on the engine again to turn on the radio, but it doesn't turn on. Not unless I "reset" it again. This goes on and on.
Finally, we took it back to the dealership. They replaced it with a new radio/cd player. Yay!
But...it started doing it again! So for a loong time, I've just been dealing with it. It's frustrating to have to reset the radio all over again and then reset all my settings again (radio stations, bass, treble, etc). I came up with a system, which is probably not good, but don't care anymore (out of warranty now)...whenever I turn off the engine and I hear the radio/cd player start to make that sound, I have found a "sweet spot" on the face of the player, that if I hit it just right with the heel of my hand, just in time (can't let it make the sound too long otherwise it's reset time!), then I can prevent it from having to be reset the next time I turn on the engine. It's funny to see the look on other people's faces when they're in the car with me! Unfortunately, because of this, I've cracked the face a bit...again...don't care.
So...before I go replacing the entire cd player/radio with a better one, I want to know if there's an underlying issue that causes this first. Oh and I'm not sure if this is related to the radio or not...but the weirdest thing with the overhead clock...the time is always wrong. It keeps going further and further ahead. It doesn't matter how many times I fix the time, it somehow ends up going ahead...and it does it kind of slowly so I don't notice it right away. Again, funny because I would actually be on time to things, then start being early, and then just REALLY early! I thought I was getting better with punctuality! Ha! Nope...
I love my Kia except for those two things I think. Sorry for all the writing! I just wanted to be sure to describe everything to the best of my ability.
I don't have a solution, but I have the same problem with our '04 Sedona. It just happened yesterday. I tried the reset button and it worked. My volume wasn't way up like yours, but my radio did reset.
We have an extended warranty, so hopefully if this is going to happen again, our warranty will cover it.
Thank you for posting your problem!

Hi my name is mike, we have an 03 sedona with the same problem. I called the kia dealership and asked for a service tech. The person on the phone said that the radio could be interally faulty. But if you check the audio fuse under the hood it would not be blown. I want to check the wiring harness behind the radio.

you have two choices. either replace the radio. or open the radio up and tighten the 11mm set nut behind the face to restore the operation of the loose knob.
