Question about 2001 Oldsmobile Alero

A 2001 Alero with engine heating-up during idle (and more)

I have a 2001 Olds, Alero. The old girl has had problems since day one. Just two years old, I had to have the entire engine replaced. Now she's heating up in stop and go traffic. It's fine once we get going. The temp. guage comes back to normal. Just had an oil change and the water pump has been replaced about 6 months ago... Also, should it really cost $775 to tighten a power steering wrack and stop a PS fuel leak?

Where is the front oxygen sensor located on my 2001 Olds Alero having a 4 cylinder engine.

Under hood , center, rear engine area, above exhaust pipe flange, mounted in exhaust manifold. May be behind a heat sheild that will have to be removed.

01 olds alero troubles keep the car running during driving

Is the trac off? If so that could be the problem does the car shake when stopped at light? or struggle to go for green light? check all tires are they all same size? if tires are low or at different pressure it will put the hole car off balance and the trac will go off and stay of witch will give you false transmission problems am I close let me know and I can see what else I can tell you

2.4 olds alero enging stumble

The two most likly causes of your Idle problen are, low fuel pressure. try installing a new fuel filter. Or the other one is the Air Idle control valve, can cause the exact problem you discribed with a cold engine. Fuel Injection engines do not have a choke like carburated engines do. So the idle is computer controled thru the Air idle control valve.
