If both stopped working at the same time you have a belt that came off. You may have a bearing on your tensioner that failed too. Open the hood and look. There is usually only one belt now (though a few models have an extra one, not know your engine I can't say. Be careful and do not drive it far this way because the water pump is also driven by the belt.

Hope this helps.

Return to the parts store and have them confirm that it is correct. Sometimes their catalog listings are incorrect. Could you possibly show them the old belt?

My power steering and ac went out on my 2007 pt cruiser at the same time. can i fix this myself? how hard is this to do?

you may want to check your power steering fluid and pump also you may need to add frion to your air conditioner you can eisily add frion if you are familiar with cars. the power steering fluid will be easy to check just check your resuvior but you may need a profestional to check if your power steering pump is working.

While idling, my pt cruiser rpm goes down with air conditioning on. The car sputters like its about to stall.

its not being told to speed the idle up under load ,now on the back of the steering rack just behind where the steering goes into it is a sensor that increases the RPM on idle when steering is turned but i have found that if this sensor isnt working not only does steering slow engine down but also AC ?? why when they are not related i dont know i just know it does ??
