95 Impreza, cuts in and out feels like its running out of gas
95 Impreza 1.8 liter, Has run great for years but recently developed a strange problem. When driving the engine cuts in and out like it wants to die ,feels like I'm running out of gas. Feels like an electrical issue. Sometimes it's very bad other times you can go for long periods with no problems. Could it be a sensor issue and if so what is the likely culprit. I have replaced the spark plugs, wires, fuel fiter, air filter, etc. Any advise would be appreciated

removing a battery terminal can often corrupt the CPU program in the ECM
first try using the scan tool to reset the ECM
check for cam sensor wires /loose connections from moving the harness around to remove the plugs
It could have overheated. run out of gas. stayed locked in high gear and stalled as it stopped. You did'nt say if it would restart? You did'nt say what engine? It can have a 2.4 liter 4 cyclinder a 3.0 liter V6, A 3.3 liter V6, or a 3.8 liter V6. It can have a 4 or 5 speed automatic transmission and the 4 cyclinder can have a manual transmission as well. It can be air condidtioned and problems with it can stall the motor. the battery can be low or dead and thiers not enough power to run the brake lights and the fuel pump both so the engine shuts down. It might restart if you turn off everthing and certainly the defroster and anything that uses electrical power.
as long as you use the entire assembly, I have run across this with my brothers car, the trans axle was bad, he tied to use just the parts he needed, they were different design, so he ended up changing out the whole unit.
