Question about 1996 Toyota RAV4

Open Question

1996 Rav4 with immobilizer issues.

I have a 1996 Rav4 with immobilizer. I never received remotes, so I've been putting the car in valey with the toggle switch. Several times the car has refused to start and I've unhooked the battery cable and tricked it that way. This no longer works. You get in the car and as soon as you turn the key, the doors automatically unlock. I think this prevents the car from starting. Out of frustration, I removed the immobilzer and all the wires to it. I haven't patched anything, but the problem persists with no change. I need help. Please. Thanks. Jim

Code b2796 however no immobilizer in vehicle

Hello! Know for sure that you already fixed or burned your car lol... i had the same issue and resolved with an stupidity. There is a fuse that the car might or might not need depending if it does have an inmobilizer or not. Mine did not have it therefore the fuse was not needed. Once I removed it issue was fixed.

Can I add something other than brake fluid (maybe a brake treatment that is heavier) to the brake fluid to help keep the clutch from slipping on a 1996 rav4

no, the hydraulics is not the issue, its time to replace the clutch. there is no quick fix or easy patch job, replace the clutch (hydraulics dont affect how the clutch holds, they mearly either disengage the clutch or do nothing)

My father just bought a Toyota 1996 Rav4 but it didn't come with an owners manual. I thought I could download one for him for fathers day and I've just wasted 2hours trying to find it. if you can...

After registering for free you can download the full owners manual and other technical documentation from the Toyota Owners Website. Here the link. Register on Toyota site and get the owners manual for your Rav4. The model is 2004/2006 Rav4.

Keyless remotes won't work after battery change.

Remote has to be reprogramed. Look in owners for proceedure. If you don't have a manual call the dealer. May have to take vehicle to them to reprogram it with a scantool
