Question about 1993 Lexus Es 300

1 Answer

When I start the engine, it takes a while for the transmission to kick in. This morning while I was driving the engine died, I started again and it seems that I have to rev the engine to put back in gear. As soon as I slow down the engine dies. I started again in neutral, rev the engine and put in drive and goes.

You need to be sure the trani fluid is up to par..
Check the trani fluid while the car is running in park and is warm..

Or it could be a problem with the modulator or the electronics inside and/or out of the trani..

I would advise bringing it to a trani shop asap to properly diagnose the issue.. What is happening could be causing costly damage to the trani.. And the issue causing might not be to big of a deal - but time is of the essence..

Allot of trani shops offer free estimates..

Have a great day !

Oh - that is a seperate issue..

Give it a tune up.. plugs, wires, pcv valve, fuel filter, air filter..

If still a problem - replace the oxygen sensors..

These steps should smooth things out..

1997 Carolla- engine dies when shift to reverse or drive, starts again when put in park. Is this a transmission problem or starter/ignition problem?

There is a switch that only only allows you to start the engine in Park or Neutral. It sounds as if yours is faulty or has a bad connection. Finding it will be the problem.

1995 buick lasabre main oil leak

Try adding a table spoon of DOT3 brake fluid to the engine oil to make seal swell (stop leak). The low oil sensor will disable the ignition if more than a quart low. The engine has to come out to replace the seal (expensive).

I have a 2000 ford E150 van 4.6. My son was driving it home and it died as he was turning a corner. We have replaced the battery, fuel filter and I can hear the fuel pump kick in. We have also checked all...

Is there a check engine light when it is running? If not, a common problem on these (with no check engine light) is the crankshaft sensor failing-it can run intermittently, or not start at all if it is bad, they run about $35 and are held in by one bolt, usually pretty easy to replace.

1996 Olds ciera, V6, Engine dies when put in drive

Try disconnecting the electrical connector at the transmission and see if it stall when you put it in gear. You will get a service engine light, but not to worry, it will go back out once you reconnect.
By disconnecting the wire connector we can tell if it is transmission related.
Good luck, let me know.
