Question about 1990 Ford Probe

I have a 1990 Ford Probe and when i put it in gear the drive light indicator blinks and the car does not move?

    i have changed the fluid and filter. anymore suggestions?

    I'm not too familiar with your car, but it must have a shift sensor on the drive axle somewhere. Check for power there.

If the D ligtlinks is a transmition problem the most comon problem is the lack of transmition oil but if the level is ok a diagnostic whith a OBD scaner is necesary to retrive the DTC code to determine the exact problem. keep in touch

Grinding when applying gas engine temp light dings on but doesn't stay on it happens when I try to dig deep and when im shifting gears but then it smooths out at a constant speed

the light could be low coolant level sensor in the radiator top tank
Acceleration moves the water away from the probe breaking contact and putting the light on
grinding could be from a failing cv or "U" joint in a drive shaft

Have someone look at the Brakelights when you step on the brake. If they do not light up, that is the reason the car will not shift into gear.

There is a switch on the top of the brake pedal and it is an Interlock. The part is suppose to reduce the chance of runaway cars when you shift into gear, a process known as "lurching".

Although the switch is mounted high on the brake pedal lever, it often gets broken or moved by the drivers' feet. Look up under the dash and see the condition of this part on the brake pedal lever. You will then know whether to replace or reposition the switch.

My 96 ford probe is stuck on overdrive everytime i put it inot drive or 1st or 2nd gear if im at a stop it wont start to move until 2000rpm and idk all that it does when i hit the button is stay on and the...

You have overdrive cancel soleniod problem. What it does, when you hit the overdrive buttom it activate the overdrive off and on. You should have it check.

You might try a new throttle position switch, they're easy to replace and not too expensive .

Manual transmission light flickers off and on-car won't go over40

Is the car a manual or automatic, 4 or 6 cyl? If it is a manual trans the hard shift could be due to worn shift forks which were rather common in these cars, had them go out in my 90 GT a few years ago. Could also be low on lube or the wrong lube. To check the lube on a manual trans car remove the speedometer drive which is on the top of the trans. The fluid should be at the bottom of the gear on the drive. The proper fluid is ATF not heavy gear oil that ends up getting put in. Hope this helps

duck tape on the air intake. I just fixed mine. There is a crack on the intake that lets too much air in when you put it in drive that makes the car stall. Try it it works.

Ford probe drive problem

Sounds like the clutch disk broke. Only way to know is to pull the trans.

Car stalls and idles rough

On thing to check is the air duct hose that connects from the throttle body to the air cleaner housing. If it gets cracked it will cause stalling problems and very rough idle.
