Code 12 is a default code to let you know it is working. IF you have no other codes your problem is not with the items being monitored by the computer. In 92 most of it is emissions anyway. It sounds like you have an ignition or timing problem. If anyone just did work on it recently then look into that. Very slim chance that it jumped time, but it could have jumped the distributor.

Start with the basics, check the timing first, and check an make sure all wires are going to the right cylinders according to the firing order.

Hope this helps.

There is no code 12 or Chevy. SHould be a 4 digit # starting with P (exp. P1234). If the scan tool say no communication then it can't retrieve any codes. Try a different scan tool... If backfiring on acceleration may be bad timing (jumped timing) how many miles on the truck and has the maintenence been performed regurlarly. Could also be CPS (crank position sensor) but would eliminate the timing issus first... Is this a gas or diesel motor???

Engine sensor data error; and charge system data error The truck wont start.

The codes are stored in one of the vehicles control modules. Need a good scan tool to get codes out of modules other than the Engine computer. Simple code reader no good here . These newer cars,1996 and above all have serial data communication networks that all the modules share information on. If one of these modules shorts out it will bring down the whole system , and can cause a no start no crank situation . Snap On Scan Tools 12 4 http://youtu.be/01ydQ-FqNwI

If the "Check Engine" light is on, have someone get the OBDII codes with an OBDII scan tool. If not, check the plugs, distributor, plug wires, timing chain, and compression.

99 expedtion abs light comes on sometimes goes away, now flasing OD light but goes awy

When the ABS light comes on the module has detected a fault with the ABS, stored a code and turned on the light. You will need a scan tool to read these codes. Most shops should have the proper tools to do this. The most common are the front ABS sensor which are part of the front hub assembly on the 4X4 model.

They may have the proper scan tool. The ABS codes are read through the OBD II port but if they do not have the ABS software then they will be unable to read the code.

When O/D light blinkg, that means there is a fault code in the computer and there is a problem with the transmission. To determine the problem the codes will need to be retrieved and diagnosed from there.

Hope this helps.

1997 breeze is shooting codes 12 46 43 55

OBD Code 12 - No Distributor Reference Pulse (Diagnostic Test Active) The Engine Control Module-ECM uses the distributor reference pulse to calculate the engine speed. On newer engines, the Crank Shaft Position Sensor performs this function.

Symptoms:
  • When flashing the Check Engine Light to read codes, code 12 will always display first, indicating the diagnostic system is active
  • The engine will not run with a "hard" code 12 set
Common Problems:
  • Chances are you will never need to diagnose a code 12. Rather, the problem would be a crank, no-start condition.
  • If code 12 does not flash, that would indicate a communication problem with the ECM.
  • Code 12 does not show when reading codes with a scan tool. If there is a communication problem, the scan tool will let you know.

OBD Code 46 - Pass-Key II System Error - Circuit out of Frequency Range The ECM receives a signal from the Pass-Key module. When the correct signal is received, the ECM will allow the engine to start and run. Please review the RepairPal article on the GM Pass-Key Anti-theft systems for more information.

Symptoms:
  • Engine may not start
Common Problems:
  • Faulty ignition lock cylinder

OBD Code 43 - Knock Sensor error The ECM receives a signal from the Knock Sensor based on the amount of engine ping detected. The ECM uses information from this sensor to help calculate fuel delivery and spark timing.

Symptoms:
  • Engine ping
  • Lack of power
Common Problems:
  • Faulty Knock sensor
  • Poor connection at Knock sensor

OBD Code 55 - End Test.

Hope ehit help (remember comment and rated this).

Starts hard, sometimes backfires, check engine lite comes on, have put in new fuel pump

You need to have the Blazer scanned for codes stored in the computer to figure out why the truck is running bad. This is a free service offered by the big chains of parts stores. You most likely have an emissions issue which is causing this problem, but you need more info (engine trouble codes) to determine what is wrong. The procedure is to just plug a hand held scan tool into the Blazers diagnostic port, and 'read' any codes. The employees at the store can tell you what the codes mean and suggest how to fix the problem. Post any further questions and code #'s here.

This Sounds as if the THROTTLE BODY & or EGR VALVE has "CARBON" Build up. This can be Corrected By Simply Removing the Parts and CLEAN them Being Carfull NOT to allow Debris to Fall Into Intake Manifold Using a VACUUM Cleaner to Remove any Debris Left In And Around Work Area's On Engine. Also Replace GASKETS on these Parts.------ A Small VACUUM LEAK can Also Cause High Idle

2005 chevy silverado v8, some hesitation, rough idling, ses light on and sometimes flashes. black smoke when reving the engine.

Black smoke could mean it is running rich, have a scan done, it is probably an engine misfire code and it will tell you which cylinder is misfiring. the last digit is the cylinder, unless it says random missfire, It may be time for a good tune up and don't forget the fuel injection system, Clean out the intake and do an induction cleaning on the injectors.

How do i canceal my service engine light

The light can be reset with a scan tool. However, the light is on because the pcm has detected a problem in the emission control system. Pull the code from the computer with a scan tool or code reader, clear the SES Light and post the code here if you need additional assistance.
