99 olds silhouette not charging, alternator is good

    if alternator is good then the only other cause is a bad battery (not holding charge) test battery it should be 12 to 12.6 volts, engine off.----13.5 to 14.5 engine running.

How do i know which alternator to get for 1999 olds silhouette ( besides pulling it out first)? Parts guy says there are two casing sizes.


You will need to turn yours in, at the parts store for a core,so just take your old one in, and they will match it up

If you have better than average skills you sould be able to tackle it. You will have to remove 3 nuts from the top and 2 bolts on the bottom. Yo will also need a coil spring compressor that you can borrow from parts store (autozone). The most dangerous part is the spring coming lose but its fairly easy t do in your driveway with regular hand tools.

Estimate of labor charges for replacing alternator on a 2002 Silhouette.


Typically the Silhouette and the Transport are the same vehicle. I spent about 45 minutes to replace the Alternator on my former Transport. It depends upon the prevailing Labor Rate what you will have to pay. I would guess somewhere around $75-$200 fro Labor alone.

The charging system will consist of what the battery and alternator and what how can i tell if the alternator is bad


start the vehicle pull the cables from the battery if the car stays on ur good if it dies ur not holding charge u only need a battery to start the car u can take the battery completly out after and go grocery shopping but good luck starting it on ur way back(:

u can't change the just the valve u can change the compressor head but still costly the only other way would be and easier buy a used one

Labor charge for replacement of alternator


and alternator on that is about $300.00 and you got a good 2hour labour at $70 to $100 it is expensive if our taking about alternator at 39 i would be suprise its and alternator please dont rate this thanks for trying thanks pierre
