How do I know when I need a tuneup (spark plugs replaced) on a 2003 GMC Envoy XL (6 cyl). I've owned it for 6.5 years, it is 10 yrs old and I have never had a tuneup. It seems to hesitate a bit

If you change plugs I would thing changing fuel filter and check air filter also. I have a 2007 with 103,000 on it. The owners manual say the original plug are good for 100,000 miles and I changed them at 99,000 just to keep from having to do it on the fly if one of them fouled out. I did pay the 80 dollars to have the fuel system treatment. I do not know now what they called it but they changed the fuel filter also.

2000 GMC Sierra V8 4.8L - I recently had my fuel pump & fuel filter replaced. I just changed my spark plugs and wires. Truck starts up fine, but it idles low now. When I'm driving it now hesitates...

What shape is air filter & pcv valve in? That and run a good fuel system cleaner through it - there seems to be ALOT of questionable fuel going around these days. Am hearing it from all over.

When car gets hot about 20 minutes after it has been started when you start to ecelerate the car hesitate. Fuel filter, air filter, plugs and wire have all been changed. Had car put on a computer no faults...

The only thing I can offer you is that the problem occuring is tied to engine temp whether it be a vacuum leak or fuel pressure loss occuring when car is warm. Check condition of all rubber hoses and plastic vacuum lines. Other end of the spectrum is simply bad gas..

I am having hesitation when start of acceleration. Already changed plugs, fuel filter

I had the same problem. New plugs, wires, fuel filter, air filter, MASS airflow sensor cleaned and still it would hesitate. It seemed to get worse when warm. Sunday I fixed the problem. Take the distributor cap and rotor off. Under the rotor there is a metal plate held on by two screws. Take the plate off, this will expose the optical Cam sensor. I took a can of MASS airflow cleaner (Plastic safe)(can buy at advanced auto parts) and sprayed heavily. Once it was dry I put it all back together and it runs like new.

How can i tell if my ignition is going bad i can crank it over but as soon as i start to drive it shuts it self off

First, make sure all your ignition components test out good; ignition coil, spark plugs, plug wires, power transformer, and even your alternator and battery.

Next, check your fuel system; fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator, and even your fuel injectors. Many times a clogged fuel filter can cause idling and hesitation problems. Also check for any restricted air passages starting from your air filter, all the way to your throttle body and EGR valve.ry checking the tps sensor (throtle positioning sensor). if the tps sensor is not working right when the engine warms up the tps sensor will not allow the fuel pump to pump as much as it needs to keep the engine running. The reason it only happens when the engine warms up is because the throttle is chocked when the engine is cold so it does not take as much gas to run it.

My echo hesitates on take off and it has a tough time getting up hills,on the highway it seems to wanna go but wont get up to 75-80

Try changing the fuel filter. Check the air filter. Check the timing. Check or change plugs and wires. Make sure there are no loose or broken vacuum lines under the hood. With the engine running, wiggle them all around and listen for a hissing sound.
