what kind of tests do tou need to do?

  • Richard Scordino May 11, 2010

Could be a bad throttle position sensor but you need to do tests to prove that.

I don't have the values for yours but, Generally it is tested between terminal a&b with the key on. voltage should be less than 1.25volts, and should increase to about 5volts as throttle is opened. I also do another test, disconnecting the harness and using an ohmmeter and check that the resistance changes smoothly and does not jump, indicating any "dead spots" I then compare these results with a known good one.

well i had that same issue in my blazer. In the mornings i would let it warm up and sometimes it would be ok but then progressively started to get worse. It would hesitate but once i drove it... it would be fine. it turned out to be the coil and the distributor cap. I replaced both and it ran great afterwards. I even tested out the by not letting it warm all the way up in the morning and still it was fine. Hope this helps.

Dies when you step on brakes then starts right up again and dies when you stp on brakes again.

Do you hear a gas leaking when you step on the brakes? Leak would be in the brake booster in the engine compartment just ahead of the driver. A large leak in the booster can cause the engine to die. If this is not the cause or you would like instructions for replacing the booster, please get back to me.

I ahve a 1994 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer 4X4 with the CPI 4.3L V-6, and I'm having a hard start problem. The owner claims they changed the fuel pump, filter, and injector/spider. I did a tune up on it,...

Could be one of many things. Have you check the catalytic converter? This will get loud, but if you can remove the O2 sensor before the cat try to repeat the fail. This will relieve the back pressure. If the problem goes away you probably need a new cat.

I have 94 s10 blazer 4.3 the prob started the

throttle position sensor, or check to make sure you have vacume going to the map sensor. Alot of times the outlet on the throttle body gets plugged and there is no vacume at the map--causes it to die. unplug the throttle position sensor and then rev it up and see if its better.

Check the vacum lines going to the distributor and transmission. If they are leaking it could be your problem.

Fuel system

Sounds like bad fuel pump. On the fuel pump there is a hose that goes from the pump up to the lines that feed your motor. That hose is about 4 inches long and is in the tank itself. I have had alot of those come through. You could replace the whole pump, but if that hose is busted, replacing that will be enough to fix it.
