both the heater hoses are hot going into the heater core.

  • d_rusinski Sep 25, 2009

are you still there, will i get a response on the same page.

  • d_rusinski Sep 25, 2009

blows air out of the vents, do you have a diagram showing where the slide bar is and to take the console apart.

  • d_rusinski Sep 25, 2009

    are we still in contact.

  • d_rusinski Sep 25, 2009

there is no slide bar, this vehicle has only a nob.

  • d_rusinski Sep 25, 2009

are you still there. i have not heard from you in 10 minutes.

  • d_rusinski Sep 25, 2009

no heat in the passenger compartment, both hoses going into the heater core are hot. we have a nob on the console not a slide bar. it only blows cold air out the vents.the selector switch for the vents seam to be working. just does not blow hot air. the other tech i was working with never got back to me and i waited 10 minutes and nothing. i can't see how the heater core could be plugged in 3 years.

  • d_rusinski Sep 25, 2009

yes the air switches to the proper vents when turning the selector switch. i cannot see how a heater core could be plugged after just three years.

  • d_rusinski Sep 25, 2009

we know what you are talking from the blue to the red nob to control the temperature of the heat. is there a switch inside the console that may be disconnected that is controlled by the nob, that you turn. that we just don't see.

  • d_rusinski Sep 25, 2009

do you have to take the console apart to get at the valve to check for the flow of the water. or is there a easier way.

  • d_rusinski Sep 25, 2009

are you still with me, it seams to take everyone ages to answer. i was with someone else and waited 10 minutes.

  • d_rusinski Sep 25, 2009

i am on my email now., are we still talking.

Either the valve that controls the flow of coolant to the heater core is defective or the heater core is clogged. I would suspect the former.

Feel the two hoses going to the heater core to see if they are hot. if not have the heater core reverse flushed to see if that helps. if not a replacement heater core may be necessary.

check for the proper function of the vents. tho the heater core could very well be plugged. see that you have air coming out of whichever vent you have selected. be sure the selector for hot or cold (often a slide bar type affair) is moved all the way to heat. there should be some tension on it when you move it from cold to hot.

yes i am and i've written some things to check

  • Roberta Smith
    Roberta Smith Sep 25, 2009

yes i am still here. what i am referring to is the knob or slide on the heater control that moves the vent from cold to hot. it should be all the way to the heat position which would be the red coloured markings on the control (blue being cold or a/c).

the other thing i was referring to is that the air blows out of the correct vent that you have selected re: defrost, middle vents (if equipped) and bottom vents

It just blows cold air. no hot air

First, make sure your coolant level is full. After spending some time looking around you probably have a shut off valve in the engine compartment. See if you can locate 2 black(sometimes red) heater hoses, about 1 1/4 inches in diameter, coming from the firewall on the passenger side. The heater control valve is located inline with the hoses. It turns on and off the flow of hot water through the heater core which radiates heat in your passenger compartment. Check with your parts house to verify this by looking up the control valve.
