Question about 2000 Mercedes-Benz CL-Class

1 Answer

I have a Mercedes Benz C250 Turbo Diesel that is overheating.

I have a Mercedes Benz Turbo Diesel C250 2000 model. The problem I am experiencing is overheating. I have taken it to a Merc Service Agent and the problem does not seem to go away. I fill the radiator every morning. The first trip of the day the temperature remains around 80 degrees unless I take the revs up to 3500 rpm or put the airconditioner on. The temperature then goes up to 95 - 100 degrees and remains there. I can also smell that the engine is hot. I have replaced the radiator cap with a slight improvement. There does not seem to be a leak, however, when the engine cools I would need to put about 1 litre of water into the water reservoir. Is this over heating common with this model of vehicle? The service agent has checked to ensure that all the fans are working. He did suggest I get a bigger radiator, but that does not make sense to me. Over the last 5 years the problems seems to be getting gradually worse.

Try running the engine with the water filler cap off and see if the water level goes up and down at the same time as you rev the engine. If it does then you have blown headgasket and your water will be being pumed out through the exhaust.

I have a 2012 Mercedes C250 sport. I know it has a turbo in it, but I can't find it in the engine bay. Where is it?

turbo units are attached directly to the exhaust manifold at the engine --probably under a silver heat shield
follow the hose back from the inlet manifold and you will find it

Can I use regular unleaded gas on my 2012 MZ C 250 1.8 lt car with out having problems ?

If your car was built to use diesel, my suggestion is to NEVER put gas in it, (and visa-versa). I understand that you could do serious damage, by accidently filling it with the wrong one.
