How do you fix transmission? transmission over heated, blew out fluid. replaced the fluid, then move it. went forward some then nothing. wouldnt go reversed at all.

When the trans overheats and blows the fluid out of it, the trans has suffered damage, as you have found out by the no-movement you have now. You need to find a trans shop to have it rebuilt.

All forward gears work excep the reverse any ideas?

It sounds like you have the Auto box and in it you have 2 bands 1 is the forward and the other one is the Reverse ,so if your forward gears are working ok then the fluids ok so its either the reverse Pump or the Band which drives the reverse gear is worn or buggered .
So your answer is to go to the AUTO MATIC shop and get them to check it out{ IT MIGHT BE THEY CAN ADJUST IT IN TIME IF NOT TO BAD}. AND THAT WILL SAVE YOU A LOT OF MONEY.

1998 Ford EB Explorer, 4.0L 5AT. Transmission stopped while driving. No clunk or grinding, etc. No Reverse or Drive. Will move slightly when revved. TC? Valve Body?

Forward clutch went out inside the trans, When you rev the engine, the fluid pressure rises and tries to apply the forward clutch assy. I rebuild these 5R55 trans for this concern a lot. Total rebuild kits with seals, fibers, steels, bands, servo's cost about 275.00 dollars plus the cost of the torque converter. Labor is about 1200 buck. Who ever does this repair for you, ask them for a 3yr/50k warranty. That means the shop really stands behind there rebuilds, as that is the trans warranty I give to my clients.

Does the 3.0l transmission fit on the 4.0l engine

Hiya,

There are 5 automatic transmissions used in the Ford Ranger, Explorer and Mountaineer. They may be identified by checking the transmission code on the Safety Standard Certification Label attached to the driver's side door post, in the space marked Trans. The transmissions can also be identified by a tag attached to the lower left hand extension attaching bolt. The transmission codes are as follows:
  • 1991–94 code T is for the A4LD transmission
  • 1995–99 code T is for the 4R44E (2.3L, 2.5L & 3.0L) or 4R55E (4.0L) transmission
  • 1996–99 code U is for the 4R70W (5.0L) transmission
  • 1997–99 code D is for the 5R55E (5-speed automatic) transmission
So, what you need to do now is...establish from a FORD workshop, whether both the A4LD and 4R55E transmissions share the same components and mounting dimensions.

Cheers,

Scott

Having problem's with my 98 Ford Windstar

Check  transmission fluid level first. Make note if the fluid color is dark brown and smells burnt you probably have a serious problem. If fluid is full, you probably have pump failure. Trans will need to be overhauled or replaced.
