Question about 2001 Volkswagen Golf
If and when this problem reoccurs, you need to check if its spark or fuel problem.to check for spark carefully pull off the main lead to the distributor cap[center lead],hold it near the engine with a insulated pliers, have someone crank the engine and see if theres spark.if no spark try another tci unit[common failure] which should be located under the dash near the glove compartment,if its fuel check fuel pump or return valve could be stuck open..cheers
