Question about 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500HD
Check first the status of the cable that connects the transmission and the speedometer through the back of the dashboard. You should be able to see it under the hood at the driver side. Check if the cable is loose or needs replacement. If that checks out ok you may want to check the back of the dashboard if the connection there is still OK.

There was a Problem with the stepper motor that controlls the speedo. How many miles do you have? If you have less than 70K they should replace it for free. Up to 90K They pay for new speedo. If you like call me 732 841 7677.
