The exhaust system on your car is stainless steel, and it heats and cools quickly, there is nothing wrong with this. all your hearing is the joints in the exhaust system expanding and contracting. My 2007 impreza 2.5 does the same thing. And when you turn car off the system is cooling off and contracting.

Car overheats makes a loud clicking sound from under the hood

The loud clicking and/or ticking noises that emanate from an overheated engine is actually the metal parts expanding or contracting due to the heating or cooling down. This is a sure sign of severe overheating.

2000 ford contour the Car ticks when I shut it off

You are likely hearing the sound made by the exhaust system as it cools it makes a ticking noise as the metal contracts

Can a turn signel work for about 15 seconds and then stop? or could it be the relay?

the flasher unit is probably worn out.there is a bi-metalic metal strip that gets tired and won`t expand and contract making the clicking noise you hear when the signals are in use.it stops expanding and contracting causing the flashers to stop working.change the flasher unit but make sure you changing the one for the signal flasher and not the hazards flasher as they look the same.to know which one turn on the hazards and look for the other flasher that is not making a noise as this will be the one for the signals.

When i shut mine off sounds like some thing dripping on exhaust

it is possible that the sound you are hearing is the exhaust metal contract as it cools down thus causing a ticking sound. after being heated up from the engine running and causing the thin metal of the exhaust components to heat up and expand slightly, taking the engine heat away allows the parts to cool and contract back to their normal size. the ticking is what happens when metal rapidly cools down.

I was wondering what this plug on the motor that goes in to the exhaust does. It makes a weird noise when it is not not.

Should be the O2 sensor. Does it have wires coming off it? you're probably hearing the metal expand/contract. Or you have an exhaust leak there.

I have a ticking noise coming from rear driver side of 2003 aviat

Most likely its the exhaust pipes or muffler making the sound. It should just be the metal expanding from the heat.

If you crawl under the car you should be able to hear the part better.

Exhaust manifold gaskets

the ticking noise when cold is an exhaust leak.If it is the exhaust manifold gaskets, depending on the vehicle they can be very difficult to replace.in some cases you must remove many other parts even to see the manifolds.make sure when manifolds are off that they are checked for warpage, this is a simple test needing only a straight edge and feeler gague.ask your tech if he can see any broken manifold studs/bolts and if quote covers time for removing broken manifold studs/bolts,because if any are broken, this can take quite some time to extract the broken studs/bolts.

Ticking noise

It is part of the waste gate just above the gas tank. It periodically checks for leaks and pressurizes and releases. Gives a ticking noise when it does this. Not a problem and GM is aware of this and said its normal on our cars.
