Question about 1995 Jaguar XJ6

1 Answer

Jaguar xj6 1995 no power when press gas pedal pressed all the way

Week ago put new Bosch spark plugs, car is puttering when driven and eventually gets going but it is not running same or better as before, did not set the gap on the spark plugs as i was told by the auto part place that these spark plugs are pre gapped, did not change ignition coil gaskets( couple of them were torn), also noticed couple of the coils, ends were broken/chipped off. I am not sure if these broken coils are some how causing problems, may be with the firing of the spark plugs. When car is driven it seems as if the gas is being choked off or feels like its miss firing?. I was thinking of getting new coil gaskets and perhaps couple of new coils, Is this a good idea or I should replace all six coils, can they be used from junk yard(electric parts?) new ones are pretty expensive. Thanks for your help Zeff

No, no need to replace everything. There is a sensor, Mass air flow, located in one of the metal tube sections of your intake manifold. The qires will give it away. Pick up some CRC electrical spray cleaner and wash that sensor as good as you can without brushing, rubbib=nf r otherwise touching Do not use compressed air, it will dry quickly on its own. Seeif this saves you a few bucks. Your air cleaner/filter needs to be kept clean and leak free. The MAF controls your fuel and will shut down the engine if it doesn't sense the intake air. If you doubt your coils, watch under the hood after dark. If you see a light show, Replace whatever is letting the spar escape. and it wouldn't hurt to have the plugs gapped at specs. Good Luck, Ned-

2000 Ford Crown Victoria (police pkg) wont start?

The first thing you need to do is have the computer scanned for trouble codes to narrow down the possible causes. But that would require a code reader or scanner.
Have you checked fuel pressure with a gauge ? Are you getting spark to the plugs ? Because of the moan from the pump, there's a good chance the pump has failed.

Problem with 95 jag XJ6

Had this problem before and found it to be the crankshaft sensor. This would be cheaper fix than the Lambda sensors.
