Well seeing it is the top you will be able to get away with a cold patch they sell at napa for gas tank repair. it is a two part puddy you have to need together! works well. if you want to weld it you can but just fill the tank up with water and make sure you clear of any gas! if you have any more question please ask. good luck

How many different sizes are there for the fuel line from the gas tank on an 85 dodge ramcharger

Hopefully the old lines are still in place & that will give
you something to look at & measure.

Steel tubing --I assume-- your running from front to back,
until you transition to rubber or braided hose?

I would say 3/8" steel fuel tubing

No one-- meaning people who never work on vehicles,
or parts store people who disrespect your age or knowledge?

The only issue will be at the gas tank & on the engine

If it has a carb, then it may be steel all the way or some rubber
hose,at the gas tank if your going there you may have special connectors & they are avail, but again the parts stores will play
stupid as they don't get too involved there

Let us know what your up to

We have no diagrams,sorry

You have to hone you fabricating skills

No dealer parts to just bolt on

1985 v-8 dodge ramcharger starts but won't run after starting.

This could be caused by a sticking choke in the carberettor. If it starts cold, it tells me that the choke is closed and allows for more fuel and less air to be introduced to help start the car and then once you go to accelerate, it floods the engine and wets the sparks plugs not allowing for restart. Remove the air cleaner and look down the top of the carberettor to verify the top valve closed. Start the car and go under the hood to accelerate the engine by gently pulling on the throttle linkage. Please be careful, this does have potential to "pop" so please DO NOT PUT YOUR FACE OVER THE CARB!! Will it idle? Let me know.

Float sticking after rebuilding.

Sounds like you might have tryed some rtv ? It will expand and cause just that problem. If not You will have to pull off the bowl and bend the tab on the top of the float to the right spot by pushing on the float.

1985 dodge ramcharger, carburetor issues

Sounds like a problem I had with my '85 Dodge D150 Ram Prospector. In my case, the automatic choke was broken and it was starved for air during acceleration because the choke was always closed. It ran fine at idle or very slow acceleration. I wired the choke open and it runs much better, although it is much more difficult to start as the fuel mix is lean due to the extra air. Once it gets warmed up, though, it runs fine. I hear that the barrel carb on mine often has problems.

1985 Dodge Ramcharger fuel gauge not working

The problem most likely is not the gauge itself. It could be faulty wiring between the gauge & sending unit, or most likely a bad sending unit in the tank. Visit, do a thread search on fuel gauge issues, and you'll find a ton of info. If you need anything clarified, post up on the vehicle help board...the members there are happy to help!
