If you have a Check Engine Light on take your car to a mechanic or perhaps even an autoparts store and have them read from your cars ECU on why the light is on (what code) and what will need to be done to repair.
I hope this may have helped,
Tom

Headlights not working

First of all you need to check your bulbs? If the filament seems ok you new to work your way back up the loom, making sure there is no obvious damage. Secondly check your light fuse, this will be located in the engine bay fuse box or the cockpit, use your user manual to locate. If the fuse is ok, check visually and if possible with multi meter, I would suggest checking relay switch in engine bay. If this is ok then check your light switch/stalk.

1991 Volvo 240 backup lights do not work

don't back up <giggle> ..there is a switch involved, is your trans automatic or manual?

If automatic, With engine off, foot on brake (duh) key in on position, observe the backup lights as you slowly move the shifter completely through it's range... Commonly, the switch needs adjustment.

S80 backup light wont work

There are only 2 things to check other than the bulbs, 1st the back up lite fuse, and the 2nd the back up light switch on the trans, if the fuse is ok replace the backup light switch.

Could you take out a bulb and with a testlight/probe check that you do in fact have power to that circuit .Also check that they are the correct bulb for that application I have seen people put indicator bulbs in where therse supposed to be a double filament bulb.Does the base of the bulbs lead contacts line up with the two steel terminals inside the plug?
