My personnel recommendation is every 60,000 miles. If your owner's manual list a lower miles to change it at, follow the manuals advice.

Do i need to change oil in my truck every 3000 miles?

Using synthetic oil

I would switch to a 'Synthetic Blend' first - and stay with that for the next 3 or 4 oil changes (watching for any oil leaks to appear), before going to a full synthetic oil.

Did you change the filter and the 5 qts of fluid or have the whole system purged with 13 qts and no filter? Did you use the right fluid? Did you check the fluid after driving the car a few miles? How was it running before the change? It is possibly coincidence that the tranny is not shifting, The fluid change would not cause that unless you didn't put in enough fluid or you put in the wrong stuff. The first sign of low fluid is not shifting, check it out, hope this helps.

I have a volvo s80 and the trasmission oil is black so ive been wanting too give it a flush but everybody keeps on telling me that if i do that im just going too make it worser and mess up the trasmission...

They are correct,if you change it ,it will slip most likely

Hopefully you weren't the one who neglected changing the
fluid evey 30,000 miles

Black Fluid means you have one option
Pull it & rebuild it

If you didn't do the Power Steering Fluid every 30,000
that will go next.

85% of all trans failure are from neglect

Now for the last 15 years everyone believes that
transmissions are sealed & can not be checked
or changed. Pure Nonsense

Also almost everyone believes that spark plugs last
100,000 miles That is watching too much TV

We live in a world of very uneducated & care less people

Trasmission oil change

The transmission fluid should be flushed out every 60,000miles. In your owners manual there will be a service interval section that will tell you how often the fluid should be changed.

1990 Toyota Camry transmission won't go into any gear

you didn't make clear you have a automatic trasmission or manual?
if is a manual trasmission you have to look the clutch and to valves that is puting the trasmision oil pressure to move the clutch one at the end near the gear box and the second after the clutch pedal outside of the cabin imediatley after the pedal. you have to look to the oil level in the rezervoir, if you dont have the problem to bay some oil and to change completely the oil first maybe the right solution to begin with oil change first , may be is freeze from the dirties finded in the oil pipes and valves.
if you have the automatic trasmission sorry i dont know, because the problems there are more complex.
