I had an issue much like this with my Montero. By accident I found that four of the six fuel injectors failed, leaking heavily. In my case I could get the truck started after it sat several days (drying the cylinders out) after which it would run though poorly. I have since replaced the injectors and she runs/starts fine.
I hope this may assit you,
Tom

1988 Ford F350 460,fuel injected, Wont start,,, Coil only sends spark once per revolution of the rotor

Hello Donn,

UN-fortunately 1988 is WELL before the OBD
(on board diagnostic)... DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE
Codes (DTC) got standardized...

So DAYS can be wasted looking for commonality...
(troubles).

Rather than assuming your spark, timing, fuel, ECU...
Oxygen Sensors. INJECTORS are all askew...

I would suggest that if you SATURATED YOUR
HEADER BOLTS with LIQUID WRENCH...

and opened you EXHAUST ahead of your catalytic
converters... ahead of your mufflers... you engine would run...

Obviously DANGEROUS to operate in that condition... at
least you would know what had to be REPLACED before
you can operate your vehicle SAFELY.

If you decide the job is a bit too much... at least
check out your PURCHASE cost of a replacement
CAT and/or MUFFLER...

I have 1995 chev 1500 350 cid, I have changed fuel filter, plugg's, wire's, rotor, dist cap. Yet under load it buck's, and when up to speed run's great. What am I missing?

check EGR or PVC valve operating correctly. fuel pressure or volume, replace fuel filter, possible air leak into manifold vacuum, check vacuum lines not leaking, incorrect spark advance

Replace the spark plugs and wires along with a distributor cap and rotor. Be careful to leave the old wires and plug wires connected to dist.cap, just remove dist. cap from the distributor and lay aside with plug wires on it then install rotor then new cap and proceed to replace each wire for cap and spark plug one at a time so you don't mix up the spark plug wire firing order. Cap laying to the side is used for reference purpose.

One cable is not sparking contniuously

Autozone auto parts will scan your computer for free...start there...then do a major tuneup...plugs, dist cap and rotor, wires, pcv valve, Ox [O2] sensor in exhaust every 60,000 miles...GAS FILTER!!! soooo important with fuel injected autos...every 12,000 or 15,000 miles. If gas filter is not changed the fuel pump has to work sooo much harder!!! Then it dies... start me up!!!
