Try adjusting the shift cable, look behind the drivers wheel well, you fing the cable and adjuster

it is your interlock solenoid or switch on your brake pedal. This keeps you from starting your car in anything but park.

My 1999 Durango stalls when it’s cold and I shift into reverse. Once the motor is warm reverse works fine.

there is a release on the brake pedal that lets the transmission shift out of park you should hear it click when you put your foot on the brake

Sounds like the shift shaft at the transmission valve body detent linkage has come apart. The trans. pan will have to come off for access to valve body. A safety hazard exist(runaway). Investigate before operating this vehicle

You can shift into and out of 4 high at low speeds, to get into and out of 4wd low you will have to stop and go into park.

Gear shift is stuck in park I have a similar problem. I have a 2004 dodge durango. It will start up fine, but it won't shift into reverse or drive. It usually takes up to 15 minutes sometimes to get it...

YES SOUNDS LIKE IT IS THE SOLENOID NOT SHIFTING INTO REVERSE OR TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE NOT SENDING SIGNAL TO VALVE BODY SOLENOID

Try it while someone rocks vehicle forward & back, and also try pushing brake pedal hard too when rocked forward.

the humming noise is the front drive shaft u joints as far as the shifting ??????? check the fluid level in the tranny........ fully warm and in neutral..... set the park brake..... it should be in the "hot" area or just under
